It is time for state and local governments to arrest masked officers who won’t produce warrants and who have no proof someone is undocumented.

Kidnappers should be arrested and indicted and tried for kidnapping and serve the many years such sentences carry.

Today I learned (in a conversation with @staterepjuliareed.bsky.social about her new bill, HB 2095) that in Washington a driver is currently presumed liable for a collision if they strike a bridge, but not if they strike and harm someone walking on a sidewalk.

kavanaugh not beating the allegations that he’s a dumbass
Brett Kavanaugh (September 2025): The facts and how they relate to the law don’t matter. Assume ICE and other federal forces always act with integrity, always respect rights, and consistently impose minimal burden.

Brett Kavanaugh (December 2025): Should I not have done that? Was that wrong?
Kavanaugh in a footnote in today's opinion says "the officers must not make interior immigration stops or arrests based on race or ethnicity."

“Clinton is in the Epstein files!”

Great. Next time I come across a Clinton rally, someone wearing a Clinton hat, or flying a Clinton flag on their truck, I’ll be sure to let them know.

The rest of us want them ALL held accountable because we aren’t in a cult. Hope that helps.

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau has returned $21 billion to Americans cheated by big banks and giant corporations.

So naturally, Trump and Republicans are trying to shut it down.

Trump sided with companies scamming hardworking Americans. I won’t stop fighting back.

Sickening. Absolutely evil.
NEW: Without USAID funding to help buy food for refugees, the World Food Program rushed to prioritize families based on need, determining that only half the population would get food.

Refugees learned which half they were in from a number stamped on the back of their ration card.

Jesus, this story...

Refugees starved to death on 420 calories or less after Trump cut aid overnight, leaving no time to find alternative support.

First it was "we have to blow up dozens of people on boats because of fetnanyl." But obviously it wasn't fentanyl being trafficked so then: narco terrorists are shipping cocaine! But then Wiles tells a reporter it's all about regime change and today it's bc US oil companies got kicked out in 2007?

The Seattle City Council is voting on SEPA exemptions tomorrow (yay!). But these include an exemption for 90 unit "principal use" parking lots (so, not tied to housing).

Exempting huge parking lots (which induce driving demand) from SEPA is a serious mistake.

US building codes requiring two stairs in multifamily buildings: not only worse living environments, but also more dangerous in fires! What a combination.
Consultants contracted by Minnesota found that an eight-story single-stair building with 6,000 sq. ft. per floor (building 4) has dramatically lower fire risk than a same-height code-compliant two-stair building with a larger floor plate (building 1) www.dli.mn.gov/sites/defaul...

HB 2100 does it! It’s a payroll tax on high earners paid by the largest 1% of corporations in our state.

I’m also hearing that the State Legislature will consider a bill that repeals this sales tax on public schools in 2026 - it will likely come through the House Finance Committee.
As of Dec 1, we're now getting charged a 10 percent sales tax on after school activities fees at the public school. Can't we just tax tech worker salaries already?

Agree with Scott, I couldn't have written this better myself. Credit where credit is due, Rob Saka did the obvious right thing on this one. (As did Alexis Rinck and Eddie Lin (glad he has been sworn in!)).

As for Harrell and the six other city council members?

This was an abysmal vote.
This reads like it was written by @wilsonforseattle.bsky.social , @alexis4seattle.bsky.social , @ronpdavis.bsky.social or another Seattle progressive. Glad to see he's getting the message though I think his re-elect campaign is already doomed, the hole is too deep.

Yes! Thrilled to see this.
News from official me: I just dropped the Affordable College for All Act, which would provide tuition free higher education to all working and middle class families in WA simply by making the biggest tech companies pay the tax that’s already on the books. It’s time to #ScraptheCap
🚨Bill Alert 🚨 I just dropped HB 2098, Affordable College for All. This bill would make higher education accessible to all working and middle class families in Washington State by removing an artificial cap the biggest tech companies put on their own tax rates: app.leg.wa.gov/billsummary?...

Looks like it was a nine-point win for the MAGA in a Trump +22 district, a 13 point swing. Turnout will be higher next year, which may mean a slightly smaller swing - but the national mood feels like it's at an 8-10 point swing here.
While it’s depressing to see that so many people’s brains are broken enough to keep voting MAGA when it is presiding over so much anti-American, freedom-hating lawlessness and cruelty

BUT

This result looks very good for a blue wave next year—a 15 point swing for Dems for this race.

This was a really fun one. Sapiens says so much generic, incorrect stuff, it's insane.

This is a fantastic pod if you like a good, smart, BSing kind of comedy book club takedown of pop culture icon books.
Episode 46: Sapiens

It's an ambitious goal to write the entire history of humanity in just 400 pages. It's even more ambitious to do it without reading any research.
