Call to Action: Tell #Kirkland City Council to adopt the Houghton Development Plan. 📣

In 2022, the city purchased the old strip mall in Houghton with the express purpose of converting it into a mixed-use center, with businesses and affordable housing units interspersed.

Congratulations to council member elect Shilpa Prem, who is set to become #Kirkland's first ever woman of color to serve on the council since the city's inception.

Her opponent, conceeded this morning.

Persistence and organizing can lead to real change.

Mike Solan, SPD guild president, issued a statement openly questioning the validity of the votes for Katie Wilson.

Solan's embrace of the far right & SPD's history of aggression could make a dangerous situation if the national guard is sent to #Seattle.

Moms 4 Liberty (an aggressive anti LGBTQ hate group) has gotten much more discreet in their candidate support.

Lynda Schram & JoAnne Tolentino, who both lost their races for #Northshore School Board, are involved with the M4L King County Chapter, with Lynda serving as admin ⬇️

This is a hopeful outcome in #Burien. With a progressive majority on the council there is a greater chance to 1) overturn the city's camping ban, 2) Restore funding to REACH, and 3) replace the current city manager

On Mon, ICE violently kidnapped several folks in #Redmond while they were working. During one of these arrests, they broke their vehicle windows and dragged them out.

This comes amongst a trend of rising #ICE activity, including here on the Eastside.

This hilarious video has been circulating in the comment sections of news articles about the race in #Woodinville, where one person (Jeff Lyon) is spending big $$ to buy seats on the council.

The creator of the video is unknown.

It's been quite the year in local politics.

Jeff Lyon is trying to buy an election in #Woodinville & in #Kirkland, the Cherish Kirkland-backed slate was recently endorsed by Judy Nicastro, the former council member involved in #Strippergate in '06.

This is a great write-up from @typewriteralley.bsky.social at @theurbanist.org about the #Kirkland City Council candidates and their starkly contrasting differences, which will determine whether or not the council moves towards a reactionary direction.

The man in the video who drove drunk and crashed into his neighbor's yard is #Bothell City Council Candidate, Mark Swanson.

Cherish Kirkland has been spreading ugly rumors about 2 of the progressive candidates.

Not only are these folks donors of the conservative slate, but some of them (including Jenifer Ohayon) have created multiple accounts, with which they respond to each other. ⬇️

Just as community members & advocates warned would happen, CBP has accessed Flock camera data from multiple police jurisdictions, including #Renton & #Auburn, allegedly through a "back door".

Despite these risks, #Seattle still voted to expand their use:

An update on this.

Since yesterday, the name of the voters' guide has changed from "Alt Progressive Voters Guide" to "Kirkland Voters Guide".

There's also 2 ads being run for this, with a prominent Cherish Kirkland member, Jill Stoddard, paying for them.
October 19, 2025 at 5:04 PM
It looks like "Sanity Kirkland" has rebranded to "alt progressive voters guide" and paid for it to be sponsored.

They also have these yard signs plastered everywhere in #Kirkland.

None of this is free, and printing alone can cost thousands.

One of Catie Malik's endorsers and a prominent Cherish Kirkland member, Jennifer Ohayon, who is also a Lake WA SD PTSA volunteer, has some very bigoted & hateful beliefs, including Islamophobia ⬇️

Local election🧵

This year's elections in #Kirkland are an important one.

It will help determine whether the city continues to move towards the direction of being an inclusive community, or if it stays an exclusive place where only the wealthy can afford to put down roots.

Both We 💚 Seattle's board member, Tom Wolf, & WHS are publicly calling for #Trump to send the national guard in to invade San Francisco.

It's not funny, and it's not a game, yet here we are.

It took only 10 months for We 💚 Seattle to be all in for authoritarianism.

#Kirkland City Council candidate Catie Malik decided to use the city's Safe Parking Program, which serves families, as a way to create tension around La Quinta

She not only gave false info about the program, but was unaware that its founder has long advocated for PSH.

The "debate" co-hosted by We 💚 Seattle was today. Katie Wilson's campaign was not there (they said she's feeling unwell), and Harell had a VERY friendly crowd.

ECB live bluskyed the event, and captured what Harrell said about "unmasking antifa".
Harrell says yes—"what we're trying to do is make sure that masks with the intent to camouflage themselves to exert force over people is not what we want and we'll prove it that so I'm all for that."
October 12, 2025 at 2:29 AM
So far, 2 candidates have officially dropped: Alexis Mercedes-Rinck and Dionne Foster.

None of the candidates were told that We 💚 Seattle was involved, and some weren't even asked beforehand.

As of this writing, they haven't taken Dionne Foster off the advertisements.

Brandi Kruse & Let's Go WA were denied use of Tumwater Middle School's facilities for their anti trans initiative event, after giving them only 3 days' notice.

They had it anyway, right outside, & called community members who showed up to protest them "violent terrorists"

This is just awful. WIC was a lifeline for my family when my son was little.

When I could no longer breastfeed due to health issues, WIC paid for the formula (which is even more expensive today).

Now the program may run out of funding in less than 2 wks
