Tim Walz threatened to call the national guard in on protestors, and the Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey supported the MPD dispersing protestors at the Hilton hotel. Both equivocated when asked about arresting/investigating ICE agents. They are infinitely more opposed to protests than they are to ICE.

The fascists hate racial solidarity and Good was killed not because she's an active organizer - although she was - and not just because she's white, which she was, and not JUST because she was a lesbian, which she was, but because she was engaged in an act of racial solidarity and made an example of

It's important to remember that this is precisely the outcome that Trump's backers were trying to engineer in electing him, not a fuckup or failure.

They're calling it the imperial boomerang, folks. They say it's the biggest boomerang they've ever seen, maybe even a plane of some kind. Whatever it is, it's coming right back to us, right back to us. The haters say it's not returning to the imperial core, but folks it's called a boomerang for a re

i don’t think the intention of noting the victim’s citizenship is to imply that one life is more valuable, but rather to shake anyone out of complacency and apathy if they assumed their passport would shield them from the violence and brutality of their own government

This is not who we are. I became an ICE agent because I truly believed in the value of getting a $50,000 signing bonus to violently assault and terrorize anyone I wanted while never getting in trouble for anything. Being held accountable conflicts strongly with my deeply-held personal beliefs

Yeah, I am constantly torn between Blackness and patriotism because it is very hard to love a country that is built around hating me and mine, but I try to remember that a lot of the people who fought for this country to be better were my ancestors and I have no right to give up. We belong too.

Today is very bad and we should all be very angry but I am here to remind us that the birthday we are celebrating this year is not for the Constitution but for our rebellion against monarchy. The sincerest form of flattery is imitation.

There's honestly been some pretty good news coverage tonight on TV regarding today's events. It's not a coincidence.

Like half a dozen prominent Democrats finally came out this afternoon and said ICE is terrorist trash led by a secretary who should be impeached and it flipped the whole narrative.

Damn, here you go confusing a situation for a justification again 🤔
January 8, 2026 at 12:36 PM
Of course not, but how you solve or prevent a problem depends on what the problem is - the endpoint when they're actually raping another person is downstream of many possible causes. It doesn't just spontaneously happen! Again, do not confuse a situation for a justification
January 8, 2026 at 11:29 AM
It's complicated! And it depends on why they raped someone in the first place, which is what we actually have to reconcile! But "put them in a box for bad people and try to forget about them" is not preventing rape, so I think we should try something else. Abolition doesn't mean abandonment.
January 8, 2026 at 11:07 AM
If you can't imagine any system where people are seen as people and we have to actually reconcile with the reasons people do things and the ways to prevent them from doing those things while preserving our fundamental rights & freedoms, just let someone else do it, but I think you should try harder
January 8, 2026 at 10:59 AM
But those are just the bad faith reformers - police abolitionists already used "abolish the police" (really gets to the point), and "defund the police" was the good faith compromise for reformers that wanted reform that might actually change something. "Fund the police" is anti-reform status quo.
January 8, 2026 at 10:51 AM
Yes, the purpose of the slogan was to prevent bad faith reformers from co-opting and subverting it: we have had "police reform" for decades, and it is always implemented as "fund the police," and then the additional funding goes to supporting additional police violence, not actual meaningful reform
January 8, 2026 at 10:51 AM
Do not confuse a situation with a justification - some people will do bad things, but we can imagine better solutions than locking people up, even if we haven't worked out all the details yet. Confronting crime with compassion and community is complicated, but carceral confinement is cruel.

Charlie Kirk was a husband and a father. We heard it over and over again

Only certain types of people get to be husbands and fathers. Some people are simply civilians. Faceless, nameless and without consequence. Civilians die. It's what they do
The New York Times has just confirmed that 40 civilians died in President Trump's invasion.

This is the aftermath in one area

What happened in Minneapolis today is an inexcusable tragedy. My heart is with the victim's family and loved ones.

One thing is clear: ICE is out of control. We have to listen to local leaders warning that ICE is putting communities in danger.

ICE must leave Minneapolis now.
