#Nomar
Yeah Nomar is a guy I think about. You also have guys who aren't quite on Rollins' level but are close enough that he doesn't have a huge gap like Jose Reyes (now off the field is a big problem), Hanley Ramirez, Edgar Renteria, Rafael Furcal. It was an era of good shortstops

Send me to a late 90s Southie dive where I can bitch about Parcells, argue Nomar over Jeter, and re-enact Antoine’s shimmy on my way out to smoke a cig.
You know how there are some historical reenactment museum areas where you can go and see people dressed old timey churning butter and making horseshoes? There should be one that's a bar and kids can go listen to reenactors complain about their city's sports teams from different decades

Ok, I'll be the weirdo here... why are Nomar and Pokey wearing two different hats. It looks like Nomar is wearing the normal game hat and Pokey is wearing the batting practice/spring training hat.

Also, I don't remember Nomar's name plate going from armpit to armpit. Why do I notice this shit?

Nomar asked to be traded a week before he was traded.

Garciaparra was a great player for the Red Sox for a decade.
I didn’t like the trade at the time, he was my favorite player on the team.
But after Cabrerra’s performance during the season and into the playoffs, Theo sure looked like a baseball genius.
Always, respect for Nomar!

Red Sox Manager Terry Francona introduces Nomar Garciaparra to Pokey Reese at the Sox Minor League Spring Training Complex on February 26, 2004. That season before Nomar was traded, he played in 38 Games hitting .321 with 5 HR’s and a .867 OPS. Pokey in 96 Games hit .221 with 3 HR’s and a .574 OPS.

JAMES LONEY: "Nomar Garciaparra got hurt before the first game of the season for Los Angeles. I was in my hotel room, getting ready for the Triple-A season, and Jerry Royster, the manager, called me... I remember facing John Smoltz, and he walked me the very first time."

If you don't remember Jeff Blauser, I wouldn't blame you. He was a consistent shortstop in the 90's, but far from one of the game's top players. It was an era of god-tier SSs. Guys like Ozzie Smith, Cal Ripken, Jr., and Barry Larkin, not to mention the single-name crew of Nomar, Jeter, and A-Rod ...

What’s Nomar Mazara up to
November 19, 2025 at 4:26 AM
David Wright should be a Hall of Famer. Felix Hernandez should be a Hall of Famer. Thurman Munson should certainly be a Hall of Famer. Nomar? Hall of Famer.

Gotta get in gear in case people start getting nostalgic and you're called upon to mention Nomar Garciaparra

The Red Sox could NEVER get infield help. It was always Nomar an okay 1B and then two randos. (And Valentin when he was healthy). Stynes was solid at 3B and 2B and could hit a little. Surprised we never re-signed him but I guess things were in flux with the new owners.

yes, i know, there are a million reasons to hate the NYT.
Someone needs to tweak this recipe ever so slightly - like, add a dash of allspice or cloves - and republish it as, I dunno, Nomar Garciaparra’s Baked Apple Cider Donuts, and I’ll think of them that way instead, forevermore.

You guys are great at saying things I totally disagree with ahahaha (but I would put Nomar in the HoF)

The question of value is an interesting one though. Like I would take Gibson’s 1968 over Pedro’s 1999 or 2000 just because of the sheer amount of IP and Pedro is my favorite

Is that Nomar Garciaparra?
November 9, 2025 at 5:03 AM
Gin and tonic, but great question. It was a week or so afterward.

I was doing keto and tons of orangetheory. I looked amazing and was screwing up basic tasks constantly. While I was taking this photo, the White Sox were finalizing a swap of Steele Walker for Nomar Mazara.
was this taken before or after you spilled a rum and coke all over my PS4 controller?

Of course there are some winners in the middle ground between all-timer and total nobody (Nomar Garciaparra and Buster Posey enter the chat) but the feast-or-famine tendency is pretty noticeable.

This has been a lot of fun. I'm intrigued by the guys like Nomar who appear multiple times for a team but non-comsecutively

Saw a guy in a Texas Nomar Mazara replica jersey out in public today.
