I'm watching a replay of women's bobsled and Oh Em Gee there's actually a competitor from Jamaica.

No way she hasn't heard every joke in the book...

Anyone? Bueller?
Putting out the call for a #sensitivityreader, specifically one who is #trans #nonbinary.

The script in question is a *long* way from being a @jademonkey.bsky.social project, though the possibility is there, and I don't want to get on the wrong track.

RT's (RP's?) appreciated.

But why publish an article with nothing inside it?

Watching a curling VOD. The (extremely Canadian) colour commentator says he "doesn't speak every language, but do(es) speak 'Broom'" (meaning that he can't translate the Japanese team's conversation, since he doesn't speak the language, but he can still tell *what* they're discussing.

I love that.

The US defeats Denmark in hockey. Someone please tell the fucking President this does not mean he gets Greenland now.

Low key one of my faovurite things about the Olympics is when commentators get a little misty-eyed about talking about historic events or standout competitors. In particular, the phrase "what (athlete) has done for our sport." *Our* sport. Really exudes a sense of community that I just love.

t has been a hard week. In truth, it has been a hard few years. For many trans+ people, the noise, the headlines, the debates and the hostility can feel relentless.

So this Valentine’s, we wanted to do something simple.

So we've launched our 'Letters of love to the trans community'...

I'm not totally opposed to a salary cap in baseball (as long as it's accompanied by a salary floor) but my god man I would not look forward to having transactions like this in my stick-rock sport.

Nothing you can say will convince me that that ad for the NBA All-Star Game to the tune of "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" didn't start with a "guys, GET IN HERE!" moment when a writer realized "mother nature" and "Wembanyama" have the same number of syllables.

ICYMI: I introduced my Trans Bill of Rights with @markey.senate.gov — legislation to defend trans people across this country as Republicans continue to push anti-trans rhetoric and bills.

To our beloved trans community: We see you, we love you, and we will always stand with you.

Look, I totally agree this shit is important, but why is it at the top of the "Women's Curling" topic?

It's not just the top either. I scrolled for probably 20 seconds and didn't see one post on curling. Maybe something broke.

I pulled up the curling match between Sweden and Canada and the commentator has a Scottish accent.

Dude regularly works for Disney, DreamWorks, Netflix and CN so speculate away. But this sucks no matter which studio is doing it, and gross to think some major movie this year is running with a plagiarized image from ChatGPT.

Snowboarding is so freaking impressive. Why exactly is there a culture of dope-smoking associated with snowboarding? Doesn't seem like you could do *any* of this while high.

Glad you're on top of all the important stuff, Gov @governor.pa.gov . Yeah, who cares if ICE is building concentration camps in the commonwealth, *this* is the shit that matters. www.pennlive.com/news/2026/02...

(what an absolute joke)
Pa. schools must teach cursive writing under bill signed by Shapiro
Gov. Josh Shapiro signed House Bill 17 on Wednesday, making cursive instruction mandatory in all Pennsylvania public schools.

Judged sports are so wild. I'm watching pairs figure skating and I think "wow, beautiful artistry, such an impressive athletic feat too" and the TV commentary is all "what a *huge* mistake!" And of course they're right, but just, it doesn't look anything but amazing to the layperson.

As an American, I've never really understood the whole patriotism aspect of the Olympics (and I do mean never, this long predates my souring on the concept of patriotism in general). For tiny countries, I sorta get it. There's a connection there.

Age verification?

On my first computer, you could type into it but you couldn't save anything. Whatever was on the screen in that moment was in memory, and that was it.
Age verification?

We remember when Pikachu was a new character.
Age verification?

We had to turn our TV to channel 3 to play video games.

This sucks and all, but I've been around long enough to have seen the rise and fall of AIM, Skype and countless others, Discord is no different. It can be replaced easily.
