Best Bird dad/mediocre husband. Former 2x Writer of the Year. Minor A’s Bluesky celebrity and Raiders masochist. Once fought off 22 raccoons. I call all y’all "dude".
I’ve never been to Palm Springs, but I know good and goddam well ain’t nobody in the history of humanity ever looked forward to a road trip to Yuma, man
Palm Springs & Yuma were perfect for a ST road trip from So Cal

Didn't wanna play Ozzie's brother on the 30/30 line, so that limited my #athletics options. 7/9 A's and a successful WAG on [UPPER LEFT] getting 2000 hits

Yeah, that Florida sprawl of ST ballparks is insane to me. When the Cactus League axed Yuma(!) and Palm Springs(!!!) from the map in the early 1990s, Arizona became perfect for us like-minded dorks looking to gorge on baseball generally no more than 20 minutes in any direction
I LOVVVVVVVVE Cactus League and going to AZ for ST sooooo much better than Florida. Gimme Scottsdale as my base and I'm set.

First time I went (2001) it cost $9 to sit behind #athletics dugout at Phoenix Muni. It’s way pricier today, but pro tip? Check 24-48 hours before game time on secondary market. Always find below face value tix there (unless the Dodgers are involved lol)
It is wonderful! Did my FBBL draft there with my friends in '12. Ended up sitting behind Rob Reiner and Larry King at a Dodger ST game, so weird. Was a lot cheaper then!

If you’ve never been and you can ever pull it off GO. Vibes are immaculate. Aside from the Reds/-dians, all the teams’ ballparks are clumped close together and Phoenix is quietly one of the best food/drink cities in the country. And, I’ll be there 😀
Spring training is worth it ❤️⚾️

Went back and forth, but decided to pay off my credit card. Enjoyed the $0.00 balance onscreen for seven seconds before remembering I gotta buy two nights of lodging in Phoenix during Spring Training and a flight to Sacramento for #athletics home opener. Forever on some “debt or alive” sh t, son

I don’t watch MLB Network, but I’m confused enough to peek in 800AM

I don’t know what this is, but lil momma’s hat is *sending* me

Cereal for dinner because everyone else ate before they got home and I’m sober enough to realize Door Dashing one burrito for $28 is probably dumb

Y’all know ur boy and his old fashioned (classic), but that tiramisu sounds amazing and I don’t even like vodka

It’s obviously tough to suss out anything of (long-term projection) value from one season, but away from the Sacramento launching pad last year, Wilson was…not the guy at home #athletics 🤷🏾‍♂️
January 30, 2026 at 10:45 PM
Fair enough, but your tweet immediately after Jimmy Garoppolo proved you right was one of the greatest clapbacks in the history of humanity. No exaggeration.
To be clear, my intention here is not to complain, but to say this--seeking internet validation for being "right" isn't fulfilling (it's taken me a while to grasp this lol), bc ultimately that's not what the internet cares about. Just do the work and stand by your process.
As someone who is frequently wrong, @minakimes.bsky.social nailed this: "You get nothing out of being proven right and only get... people take joy when you're proven wrong"

I know he’s a Boras guy and this ain’t how they get down, but C Shea Langeliers doesn’t become a free agent until after his age-30 season. Not sure what #athletics have offered, but that’s a helluva dice roll for Boras
The fact the #athletics are locking up their young stars through 2030+ is kinda wild. Right? Like goes fully against the arbitration theory on most owners using the cheap club control years and hoping to sign one or two.

Anyways, excited for Jacob Wilson to hit .400 in April and have all you bums in my mentions telling me I didn't believe in him when that's not at all what I'm saying ✌🏾 #athletics
January 30, 2026 at 9:00 PM
Luis Arráez is a 3x batting champ. His exit velos have always been abominable and his defense value is near nil. He's been a 1.0 bWAR player the last two years and is still unsigned entering his age-29 season. "Bat to ball" skills can only carry you so far
I think my expectation is a utility man, decent contact but not much power. He seems like a typical A's shortstop draft pick that just doesn't put the bat or glove together with consistency to be a long-term starter at replacement level
January 30, 2026 at 8:58 PM
I *get* the argument for all of them, but the most optimistic read of Jacob Wilson's underlying offensive and defensive numbers are that he's going to be an EXTREMELY positive outlier at the plate and he'll play better at another position on the dirt! #athletics
They seem to have bought high on all four guys they signed long term.
January 30, 2026 at 8:52 PM
Wilson's exit velocity numbers are some of the worst in baseball and after a molten start, he was cooling off quick before that HBP. He had a strong September IIRC, but between that and a so-so glove, I have no idea what kind of player he is #athletics
January 30, 2026 at 7:55 PM
Hmm. I don't know about this one lol #athletics
Shortstop Jacob Wilson and the Athletics are in agreement on a seven-year, $70 million contract extension that includes an eighth-year club option, sources tell Jeff Passan

Invited to a minor league hockey game tomorrow night with pregaming at the Chili’s across the street. Here’s me exiting my car in the parking lot

H-O Instant Oatmeal (circa 1953-1983): A line of just-add-hot water instant oatmeal from Hornby Oats (hence H-O), the first such product on the marketplace, beating Quaker by nearly 13 years! Flavors such as Country Apple Brown Sugar, Raisins & Spice, and Dates & Caramel came out in 1969

Asked to hop on a podcast to discuss/debate #athletics SS Jacob Wilson’s omission from MLB Network’s top 10 shortstops list. I politely declined, but should’ve done it just to yell at all you bums who reskeet weekly “power rankings” or who take pride/get mad at subjective foolishness

Couple of years ago, I was in DC in December for work and slipped on an icy hotel parking lot. Pinballed hard off the sides of two cars, but stayed on my feet! Cali strong!

Long day at work, but my grandfather would have turned 100 today, so you know what that means: a side trip to the liquor store to honor him
January 30, 2026 at 1:49 AM
Unspeakably hilarious to see such disappointment between the bums who supported him and the other bums convinced we could ride it out
Trump approvals in Feb. 2025 vs. Jan. 2026, according to @pewresearch.org:

White: +12 to -8
Asian: -4 to -48 (!!)
Latino: -26 to -45
Black: -59 to -71

That’s uhhhh quite the shift, especially with Asian voters.
