You may have seen an article, and although I am leaning towards voiding the contract, there’s still a lot that has to be talked over with the Padres so the finer details are yet to be decided. Also I will not be announcing my retirement yet. Right now I am fully focused on my rehab for my elbow, and if I get to a point where I can throw again, I will start from scratch again to compete. If once I get to that point I feel I can’t do that, I will announce my retirement.

According to Yu Darvish’s agent, Joel Wolfe, no decision has been made on the pitcher’s retirement. Wolfe: “Yu has not made a final decision yet. This is a complicated matter we are still working through.”

Lot of info here, including:
- Pete Alonso was "amenable" to DHing five days a week, but Stearns didn't want to go five years for him - The Rangers were willing to move Marcus Semien because his relationship with Corey Seager became "toxic" - The Mets were "much deeper" on Kyle Schwarber than previous known - The Mets project that Brett Baty can play LF well and will have 500-ish plate appearances moving among several positions, which is what Stearns told him in a reassuring call after the Bichette signing - It would have taken trading their top five prospects to get Tarik Skubal

John DeMarsico @JohnDeMarsico X.com This wasn't easy to write. Thank you for taking a moment with it. After 17 seasons with the Mets on SNY, my time directing games there has come to an end. I was incredibly fortunate to help tell the story of this team for nearly half my life - after a lifetime of fandom that made the opportunity feel almost impossible when it began. From the very start, I believed deeply in the idea that baseball is cinema. I poured myself into that belief, grateful for the trust to take creative risks in service of the game and the fans who embraced them. Over time, as the broadcast continued to evolve, it became clear that its future was moving in a different creative direction. Coming to terms with that hasn't been easy - especially when the work mattered this much, and felt so deeply tied to who I am. Mets baseball - and the community around it - became part of my identity in ways I'm still processing. That doesn't disappear just because a chapter ends. I've never been a free agent before. I'm taking a breath, looking ahead, and carrying a lot of pride and gratitude with me - while remaining open to the next place where that same care, curiosity, and belief in storytelling can live. I love this game, this art form, this crew, and the fans who made it matter - and I'll miss it all more than I can put into words. Thank you for watching.
