Marjorie Taylor Goering

(Hermann Goering sincerely believed that despite his role in Nazi Germany, he would be asked by Eisenhower to form and lead a new transition government in post-war Germany.)

I’m remembering every official, every lawyer, every investor, every service member who is visibly giddy over this kind of stupidity.

I know they can be entertained and/or distracted by jangling car keys in front of their face.

They also are anxiously awaiting updates on who the dish ran away with…
Even Republicans aren't into the "Department of War" rebranding. Only 42% approve, which is low in such a polarized environment.

Plus Democrats and Independents are solidly opposed.

Americans want a professional, not unhinged military.

I hope the pressure and loud contempt towards the @nytimes.com doesn’t let up. The damage caused by that institution in my lifetime, not just through their questionable
reporting but they way they give cover and direction to other American outlets, is deplorable and they need to be held to account.
Imagine our surprise if anyone from the New York times today had said "this is awful and we're starting an investigation into our own reporting and the possibility of a cover-up"

But everyone knows that all they do is circle the wagons no matter how bad the scandal

Gavin Newsom satiates his dark urges in a normal and wholesome way (philandering with ADULTS, hunting CONSENTING homeless people for sport at the Getty compound, and alcoholism). it's not that hard to live your values.

STEM-supremacy is the actual "mind virus" currently ravaging this society...
I think the belief by the powerful that "people will put up with many things if you are excellent at math" is incredibly revealing in terms of understanding How We Got Here

The Epstein Files is a powerful political attack for reasons that aren't entirely clear, but people should get used to the idea that we're not going to get a magical document that topples the regime and forces them all to flee the country.
That’s all fine. For the most part. And I agree that the Epstein Files (which have been substantially mitigated) are worth a small scale political long-term play / gain.

As long as we all realize “The Epstein Files!!” Is a gambit not an actual thing.

Throwing civil servants - some of your greatest allies and a group which you will need on sides in a big way for any reconstruction effort - to the wolves so quickly is fucking stupid. It's peak bluesky, mind unable to correlate even its obviously correlated contents.

There is an utter failure on this site to understand how things fit together.

Let me spell it out slowly: If you have been posting for 10 months about power politics and how Trump and Vought want to politicize the civil service, you should not want to turn the existing civil service against us.
I, a 15-year career federal employee, am responsible for ACA subsidies being taken away.

Not the tens of millions of people who voted to give Donald Trump's Republican Party control of the American government, no, they're blameless victims. It's my fault and I should suffer for it.

fuck this shit.

Wondering why no one likes your posts anymore, even among your friends? It's because @jay.bsky.team and team have decided to hide a huge amount of content from all of our feeds by default.

Here's how to turn it off.

yeah this irritates me too. "there is NO AUDIENCE for this", I say as I repost and share the link. it's you. you're the audience. clicks and being talked about are the measure of professional success for these people, and you're sharing their stuff and talking about it.
"why does the Times keep publishing Ross Douthat?" can be answered by the fact that more people on here have linked to Ross Douthat content today than have linked to a Maureen Dowd column in this decade
