Every single person in Little Village fighting ICE/BP this week, each one of those people had more courage than the entire party leadership put together. Every single person in the street resisting in LA, Portland, Chicago, they're ALL showing more backbone than useless top tiers of Dem apparatus
I keep seeing regular Americans taking more risks every day to fight tyranny, want, and cynicism than I see from the opposition party, and I imagine many of those regular Americans are asking themselves what the value proposition of such an opposition party is, really

again man these people don't like trump because they have similar aesthetic tastes

they want to see certain people hurt

he promises to hurt those people
The educated liberal big city US folks outraged at Trump's renovation of Lincoln bathroom really need to scroll some Facebook of their less established relatives and friends to see what kind of aesthetic resonates with Trump's target audience.

Second, the discussion focuses entirely on communicating a message of economic populism via cultural semiotics and social identities, when to my mind a more effective message would be the idea of a fair shake for everyone, both domestically but also globally.
That goes far beyond whether Democratic candidates can come across as authentic wearing plaid flannel shirts and cowboy boots. It has to do with a two- and three-tiered global order that is in itself unsustainable.

Until we come to terms with that, the rest is just anecdotal details.

Once saw a man by the river doing a sort of Mortal Kombat stance, squaring up to a massive hissing swan & he kept shouting “I won’t fucking back down pal” at it, as it advanced on him, wings outstretched like a terrible, vengeful angel & sometimes it seems like that is basically the entire world now

A year ago today, a racist tried to make a 'joke' about me being killed by Israel. It was the 1st time I've ever walked off of live TV. That night CNN said they'd ban the racist from their air. But in the year since, I myself haven't been invited back on CNN.

The actual finding here is that a huge percentage of the population believes things that are not true. Democrats objectively did not spend significant time on climate change or LGBTQ issues in the last election campaign.
Duh. Those of us on the ground last year actually speaking with middle class/working class voters and who heard from these voters every single day the same - “Trump is an asshole, but Democrats are out of touch” - could’ve saved my new political party a lot of time & money producing this “report.”👇

Silence is consent.
I asked Microsoft PR about this—specially the DHS using Halo IP to recruit for ICE—and the company declined to comment.

i will die on the hill that vaccine public policy should be built on two pillars

1. the loving embrace of stimulus
2. The brutal weight of the modern state for non compliance
It’s getting increasingly harder to convince anti-vaxxers bc it is no longer about science & evidence. It is about identify & belonging.
It’s not just accepting a vaccine, it’s about leaving behind their sense of self & community. It’s about security. This is why throwing data will never work.

"you can make a video of me saying WHAT"
Users of OpenAI's Sora 2 have found clever ways to subvert its controls on hate speech, generating videos in which Mark Cuban, Jake Paul, and Sam Altman appear to shout the N-word. Meanwhile, streamer IShowSpeed was aggravated to see countless Sora-generated clips of himself coming out as gay:

Political parties must shift immediately and dramatically to the left to avoid alienating these frustrated and abandoned young women. Am I doing this right?
Our recent poll found that women 28 and younger skew substantially more left than the national average. Nearly 80 percent of Gen Z women want abortion to be legal and seven in 10 want gender-affirming care to be accessible for trans adults.

My read is that fascists in the Trump Admin had Portland central to their martial law plan — 100% confident they could poke us & get visuals they wanted — and we, incredibly, have denied it to them in the funniest way possible.

It’s honestly an incredible achievement. So proud of Portlanders.
Okay, so I am 100% for animal costumes, dancing, music, or whatever other way people want to protest against ICE, Trump, fascism, or similar.

I think saying that it's "effective" because people dunking online makes me wonder what the fuck people think the end goal of it is.
