Trump abdicating on Covid was a national disaster and somehow by abdicating no one blamed him for it. Buck passing worked. Insanity
This pro-Trump nostalgia absolutely was confirmed over and over again by the Dems' own internal polling, in a truly horrifying way:

Many Americans dislike data centers because they use land, water, and electricity without creating many permanent jobs.

There’s just one wrinkle: Modern factories increasingly fit the same description.

I wrote about it for @heatmap.news: heatmap.news/energy/facto...
Factories Are Becoming More Like Data Centers
Large electricity users that employ few workers are not what America’s reindustrialization dreams are made on.

one thing the Democrats are kind of sleeping on is the subpoena power of state legislatures combined with the fact that virtually all of the conduct described by the Epstein files occurred in blue states

Look, all I'm saying is that if you just spent the last six years being frustrated with Durbin and you think there's a chance he's about to be replaced with a guy who thanks ICE for their service and takes AIPAC and crypto money, you should treat it like a very serious emergency

most isolationism has libertarian appeal ("we don't need em! we'll do it ourselves") but degrowth ends ("actually it's culturally fine that we don't have shoes. or teeth") and britain has become the poster child for it. like a nesting doll of bad ideological instincts that do not work

REP. STEIL: Some Dems demands put at risk the safety of members of law enforcement

CNBC: You mean like taking off their masks and having a badge that shows who they are?

STEIL: Well, they're known to their supervisors

CNBC: No other law enforcement officials in the US are allowed to wear masks

if you need any evidence that time is a magic transmutational force, libertarians who in 2016 were writing essays on why trump is the proper libertarian choice have within 10 years become people writing essays explaining why trump's authoritarianism is necessary, actually

Probably my favorite example, which i get to deploy surprisingly often talking to Bright Young Engineers, is that there is no one on the planet who knows how to make a pencil. And yet the pencils are made
this is exactly right and explains why most handwringing about building systems we don’t understand is misplaced. pre-LLM software engineering already consisted almost entirely of building systems we did not understand
Nobody knows how the whole system works

my suspicion is that at the macro level, a nascent sense of anti-colonialism, anti-semitism, and your basic thuggish nationalism have been cooking in the ol internet pot, leading to a widespread distrust of economic trade agreements. this is why Brexiteers sometimes echo Occupy sentiments

Honestly, it has to be a weird time to be a figure in pop culture due the president being Literally The Worst. Like, Elmo can say sharing is good and somebody in his X mentions will say “Elmo, you rotten son of a bitch. This goes against everything President Trump stands for.” And that’s not wrong.

a guy came into my mentions saying that the PR statehood referendum was “protested” and “structured poorly” but like… this is a 30% margin. i am unsure if you could language up a poll question to get that kind of margin en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2024_Pu...

It’s seriously past time to just have a fucking binding referendum that automatically enacts statehood upon completion of a vote. There’s really no good argument otherwise.
I really genuinely want to know what PR independence people think would ensure a higher quality of living without statehood because a lot of people who don't live on the island seem convinced the American boot is all that stands in the way of sovereign prosperity and it sounds like bullshit.
