my suspicion is that at the macro level, a nascent sense of anti-colonialism, anti-semitism, and your basic thuggish nationalism have been cooking in the ol internet pot, leading to a widespread distrust of economic trade agreements. this is why Brexiteers sometimes echo Occupy sentiments

It’s seriously past time to just have a fucking binding referendum that automatically enacts statehood upon completion of a vote. There’s really no good argument otherwise.
I really genuinely want to know what PR independence people think would ensure a higher quality of living without statehood because a lot of people who don't live on the island seem convinced the American boot is all that stands in the way of sovereign prosperity and it sounds like bullshit.
