I have often found, actually, that I can tell everything I need to know about whether or not a cis man is a real one by whether he maintains a juvenile mockery towards menstruation well into adulthood or whether he takes the many, many aspects of menstrual justice seriously
See how our friend Will focuses on tampons because he is both totally grossed out and also has no idea about the politics of period products.

While protesting abortion bans in Texas, tampons were confiscated at security because they were afraid we would throw cotton balls at politicians.
at a deep instinctive level they can't recognise popular ideas or take them seriously

If we could just take a fucking breath and admit "our kids are people, we don't get to decide who they are," and stop using "BUT THE CHILDREN" as a reason to attack trans people, and autistic people, and whoever else we've decided not to like, that would be cool.

I am also blocking "this [horrifying attack on a marginalized group I don't belong to] is a distraction from [my pet issue]" on sight.

I'm sorry your small mind can only be mad about one thing at a time. I have ADHD multi-tasking and perimenopausal anger, I can rage enough to destroy galaxies.
I'm super tired of "You're upset about this thing that doesn't affect me, so I think you should be upset about this other thing." I can be mad about lots! Also, fuck you.

It's easy to be progressive and inclusive and say and do the right things when society at large feels the same. And while that does matter, it matters even more when society loses its way and starts attacking the good people. That's when you earn your medals.

Cool.
