page 1 of my SUPERNATURAL comic: PANEL 1: Main Street. Small-town, USA. It’s mid-morning. There are a people on the street, but strangely, it’s all single people – no couples, no groups. 1. CAPTION: Huntington, WV. 2. SAM, off-panel: --calling it an “animal attack.” PANEL 2: CUT TO, our boys! On the street! SAM and DEAN WINCHESTER, two white men. Sam has brown hair down to his chin, Dean has short dirty blond hair. SAM’s holding up a folded newspaper reading it out loud as DEAN listens as they walk along. 1. SAM: Betsy Caldwell, age 37— 2. DEAN: Betsy? 3. SAM: --Betsy was found mauled in front of the Mountain Motel this morning. Authorities suspect a wild animal. 4. DEAN: RIP Betsy. PANEL 3: SAM giving DEAN one of his patented annoyed looks as DEAN reaches for the paper. 1. DEAN: Sorry, sorry. So, you don’t think it’s a bear. 2. SAM: It’s got some hallmarks for us – refusing to identify any kind of animal, the teeth marks are described as “strange” – sounds like it’s up our alley. PANEL 4: DEAN is holding the ripped article of the paper in one hand as he throws the rest of it in a trash can just behind them while they walk away. SAM looks back in irritation. 1. SAM: I wasn’t done reading that! 2. DEAN: Come on, Sammy, we’ve got the case. What else do you need from a smalltown paper? PANEL 5: 1: Lingering shot of page 2 of the newspaper in the trash so we can see the article that’s left reads: The Town Without Love PANEL 1: The boys, in suits, are in a morgue. They’re standing just inside the door, looking into the room. There’s medical equipment around, and an empty gurney. The Medical Examiner, DR. KOHLI, has her back to them, and she’s on the phone, furiously yelling at someone. Dr. Kohli is a short, mid-sized Indian woman with chin length dark, curly hair, wearing a white lab coat over a pair scrubs. 1. DR. KOHLI: Well, screw you, too, Terry! Don’t bother coming to Holi next week because it’s over! 2. DEAN: Yikes. PANEL 2: DR. KOHLI has turned to welcome the guys in. She does not look like someone who just went through a break-up. Really smiley, welcoming. SAM and DEAN are a little thrown, but they’re both already holding up their fake badges. 1. DR. KOHLI: Can I help you, boys? 2. DEAN: Agents Halford and Hill. 3. SAM: Oh, uh.. are you alright? That sounded messy. PANEL 3: DR. KOHLI has turned back to the wall of refrigerated cells and is reaching for one. The boys are behind her. DEAN’s holding a card in his hand reading it. 1. DR. KOHLI: Oh yeah, I’m fine, don’t even worry about it. 2. DEAN: Sometimes you just gotta cut ‘em lose. You’re Doctor Heeral Kohli? 3. DR. KOHLI: Mmmhhm. That’s me. I’m assuming you’re here about poor Betsy. PANEL 4: OVERHEAD SHOT of the body, covered by a sheet. The depressions in the sheet make it clear the body is not whole. 1. DR. KOHLI, off-panel: Damn shame, too, it seemed like she was trying to get her beau back. Also, fair warning, it’s not pretty. 2. DEAN, off-panel: Don’t worry about us, we’ve seen our share of horrors. PANEL 1: DR. KOHLI pulling the sheet back, towards the reader so we can’t actually see the body. SAM and DEAN look on, stone faced. 1. DEAN: I’d call that a horror, alright. 2. SAM: Can we get a few minutes with the body? PANEL 2: We’re looking through a magnifying lens at a laceration on corpse-white flesh, with a jagged line through it, but it’s so blown up you almost can’t tell what it is. Should be hints of dark charred skin on the edges of the laceration. PANEL 3: From behind, we see SAM is sitting at the gurney. Most of the body is still covered, but he’s lifting the arm up, so there’s a glimpse of a chewed up arm. DEAN is standing behind him, leaning over his shoulder to look into the magnifying lens. 1. SAM: Hey, check this out. 2. DEAN: Are those… PANEL 4: CLOSE-UP, Sam. Confused. 1. SAM: Burn marks on the edges of the cut. Like the thing’s teeth were on fire. What bites and burns? PANEL 5: SAM and DEAN, back in their civvies, walking through the door into mom & pop style restaurant. Old school type, tchotchkes on the wall, checkerboard tablecloths, etc. There’s a couple – two white men, DEREK and SCOTT -- near the door arguing loudly. One is sitting down, and the other standing, the chair on the ground behind them like they’d gotten up violently. 1. DEAN: No idea what the hell could do that, and— 2. SCOTT: You’re nothing but a loser, Derek. 3. DEREK: I-- PANEL 1: SAM and DEAN watch, sort of comically stuck where they are, as SCOTT throws a glass of water in DEREK’s face, so he’s sopping wet. PANEL 2: SCOTT walks by SAM and DEAN, still in their same position, only now they’re watching as SCOTT walks by to the door. 1. SCOTT: And I hate your mom’s pie! PANEL 3: SAM and DEAN sitting at a table. Dean’s got the menu open and is perusing it. SAM’s looking behind them. The restaurant is completely unfazed. Derek is at the counter, paying, still pretty wet and smiling. 1. DEAN: That guy made me want pie. Burger and pie. That’s what I’m getting. 2. SAM: Weird that that’s the second break-up we’ve seen today, right? PANEL 4: The menu’s down and DEAN’s got John Winchester’s journal in hand, flipping it open. A waitress is approaching the table. She’s Black, with her hair in braids, and dark skin. Beautiful girl. 1. DEAN: I dunno if I’d call it weird considering what we do. 2. DEAN: Let’s see if dad’s journal has anything that has a— 3. WAITRESS: Can I help y’all boys? PANEL 5: DEAN’s looking up at her, expression surprised and enamored. SAM is rolling his eyes. The waitress seems amused. 1. DEAN: --hot mouth? 2. SAM: I’ll have the garden salad and he’ll have the burger special. Thanks. 3. WAITRESS: You got it. PANEL 6: DEAN watching the waitress walk away but turning back to Sam, while SAM taps on the journal. Now we can see the Indian woman at a table behind them a little more clearly. She’s paying attention. 1. SAM: Dean – Dean! Dad’s journal? 2. DEAN: Wha – oh, oh, yeah. Right. Burning bites, let’s look.

The “five classes you took in college” meme going around is kind of depressing for me because I barely remember what classes I took. Ditto for high school, middle school, etc. I’ll remember random minute details but big chunks of my life are just gone. It’s always been that way.
