I did quite a bit of writing in 2025 that I'm happy with, so how about a little wrap-up thread featuring my faves? First, of course, I've got my two novellas! One rock-star erotic romance, one MMF romantasy.

This is one of those rare days where I wish I still smoked. (It's been more than a decade. Drunk bumming 5-6 years ago notwithstanding.)

I pretty much derailed my entire day with my own foolishness. So fun. But I managed to finish and post a fic. Health insurance is a labyrinthine nightmare, but fictional doctors aren't a problem at all. Go figure.

Yeah, I’m a romance reader, and I like romance because it’s a bit like being on a roller coaster: you know where it’s going, but you’re gonna have fun on the ride.
All of the above plus: because it's a romantic fiction book, there's a known Happily Ever After (or at least Happy For Now). As much difficulty as our MMCs face, there will be some kind of happy resolution!

This makes me feel better about having Ren continue to cavort with Hitha despite his intense knee pain in Nobody’s Bargain.
Ah, the fun of writing NSFW and then wondering if someone's going to try and ding you for being unrealistic despite it being based on personal experience.

(In this case, a disabled character having a pain spike and still being up for continuing the NSFW activity they're currently engaged in)

I am trying not to do something rash about my health insurance fuck-up. Problem is, I don't know what the rational thing to do is either.

The problem with a surprise book drop in late December? It doesn't really count as a 2025 release OR a 2026 release. 🤷🏽 Oops.

Not me *just* noticing that the PCP is different on my 2026 insurance card. Of course it probably doesn't matter, since I'll likely be canceling this coverage when the next premium is too high without the subsidy. lol.

okay open call, if you have an SFF romance coming out in 2026, and it's not grindingly heteropatriarchal in outlook and values, please tell me about it! I'm compiling my reading lists!

Would pay good money for subtitles that don’t put a giant [***SPEAKING FOREIGN LANGUAGE***] over the in-movie captions actually explaining what those characters are saying

I've written 1200 words of Chicago Med fanfic based solely on a two-second clip of Hannah seeing Dean kiss Dr. Francie from Alias. (Did I go "Don't give her coffee ice cream, Dean!" during Merrin Dungey's first episode? Yes.)

I'm in a totally desolate mood so *why* am I watching this gut-wrenchingly devastating Taiwanese drama where a guy goes to prison for killing his girlfriend's rapists? (And then she becomes a ghost, haunting whoever moves in to the space where she was assaulted.) This is not uplifting fare at all.

Now that the travel/family-related anxiety has decamped, the depression has moved back in. That is so unnecessary. Couldn't I have some time for myself before unwanted guests descended?

the reason people sometimes act madder at democrats than republicans when republicans do impossibly evil shit is the same reason why, if you hired an exterminator to handle a roach infestation and he showed up to feed and play with them instead, your first instinct wouldn’t be to yell at the roaches

I kind of want character art of Dhayana, Sikandar, and Eoin from Frostburn. Not because I think it’ll help marketing, but because I just want to see my queen and her guys.

Yes, this is exactly the time to demand Democrats "do something."

They can denounce Trump's actions as unconstitutional. They can state that he must be impeached and removed. They can make clear that all involved will be held accountable.

These are the core duties of a role they all signed up for.
