First book of 2025 finished! We Used to Live Here by Marcus Kliewer. Horror. Interesting read and I liked the ending.

This is, unfortunately, also a problem with the Dewey Decimal System.
The problem with bookstores is that every book that's about slavery, or racism, or white supremacy are in the Black History or Afrcian American section.

When let's be real, those subjects are largely "White history." But because they're in the Black section you only see them by choice

"It's not a salad"

Tell that to the deli counter guy when he scoops you up some potato SALAD or some pasta SALAD.

Don't get into semantics with me, just put it in your damn mouth!

This is also why we invented puppy chow. Peanut butter, chocolate, powdered sugar, chex. That's just stuff that's in the cupboard.

It's good though! Good enough that Chex decided to make up a new word for it that they could copyright so they could sell to the rest of the country! (muddy buddies)

When I've tried introducing people in LA to Snickers salad, they're reaction is abject horror.

I bring up fruit salad, ambrosia salad, I describe the ingredients, I say it's my culture, I SHOW it to them! They'll refuse to try it!

Damn fools, the lot of them.

I was the foreman on a local grand jury. We indicted every single case brought before us. However, on a case where we no-billed one of the charges, the prosecutor came to me after we voted and asked me why we no-billed and if we had additional questions they could answer to flip our vote.
They have to accept the document as a whole. My guess is they no billed the one they were considering, then the foreman told Lindsey the insurance lawyer they had voted for two of the three charges, and then Lindsey drafted the second one and had the foreman sign it.

I have long said people don't be hatin Chief Justice John Roberts as much as they should be hatin Chief Justice John Roberts

Halligan's incompetence is so overwhelming that the practical legal answers of how to unravel the situation devolve to esoteric questions of philosophy.
So arguably the judge can’t dismiss the case because there is, technically, no case!
