Progressive political commentator (print, radio, podcasts) in US for years, now in Canada. I post (A LOT) breaking news + legit info you can use, prone to snark. Bite me, Musk.

Now where's my trough of wine? 🍷🇨🇦

This is an ongoing thread.
For the umpteenth time, this is the ultimate goal.

All the violence, thuggery on US streets, efforts to interfere with elections every which way, it's all about November (and beyond).

STOP this in its tracks, somehow.
How do Dems win elections after MAGA:

-SCOTUS rulings
-gerrymander/redistrict
-stack elec bds
-buy voting machine co's
-disenfranch voters
-cheat/rig
-state supermajorities' bad bills
-armed thugs at polls/bomb threats
-fake elec scandal to crack down, take control
-restrict mail voting, drop-offs

The cables also revealed drama in Iceland — and demands for a high-level U.S. apology — after Trump’s nominee for ambassador to the country joked that it could become the “52nd state.”

State Department cables obtained by POLITICO lay bare the frustrations — and aspirations — of US allies and adversaries watching Trump seek the Danish island.

And now MAGA-GOP/Trump want even more funding.
Federal immigration officers across the country are newly equipped with an array of state-of-the-art surveillance technologies, thanks to a bill that transformed ICE into the country’s most highly funded law enforcement agency.

Here’s a look at their arsenal:
The powerful tools in ICE’s arsenal to track suspects — and protesters
Biometric trackers, cellphone location databases and drones are among the surveillance technologies agents are using in their immigration enforcement campaign.

It CREATES "bad weather," you idiot. #ClimateCrisis
Trump: "Coal doesn't mind very cold weather, right? You're not allowed to say the word 'coal' with preceding by saying 'clean, beautiful coal.' It's not affected by bad weather. The windmills are are frozen. You know that, right? They don't turn. The windmills aren't turning."

We’ve sent a metric shit ton of hardware to the Middle East in the last 48 hrs.

The most significant force posture changes aside from the carrier strike group:

- more Growlers (electronic warfare platform)
- Combat Search and Rescue aircraft
- multiple C-17 transport aircraft

Is Susan Collins going to get this man and the rest of the kidnapped Mainers back from her new BFF Kristi Noem?

She got her headlines today - and that's usually her primary goal but trusting Collins is risky business and trusting Noem is even worse

Trump: "People that own their homes -- we're gonna keep them wealthy. We're gonna keep those prices up. We're not gonna destroy the value of their homes so that somebody who didn't work very hard can buy a home."

As Greg points out, the Times thinks they're doing a dunk on Pretti, when actually they're providing evidence of *motive.* The ICE agents should be charged with Murder 1.
So the homicide was premeditated. Planned in advance. Agents knew they wanted to kill him, so they prepared for the opportunity and took it.

Thanks for helping NYT.
More than a week before federal agents killed Alex Pretti in Minneapolis, different agents pushed him to the ground after he spit at them and broke a taillight on their SUV, according to newly unearthed videos. Watch here.
