First book of 2025 finished! We Used to Live Here by Marcus Kliewer. Horror. Interesting read and I liked the ending.

Is it weird that three people contributed to this story and all of them are white?

Does that just speak to MN in general? To the lack of diversity in newsrooms? To what old-guard newspapers believe about "bias" and "too close to a story"? Is it all of the above? www.startribune.com/somalis-reac...
Minnesota Somali community grapples with fraud cases while pushing back against stereotypes
The largest Somali community in the U.S. is finding itself the subject of unwanted attention in the wake of criminal investigations and attacks from the Trump administration.

boy this thing just keeps happening where the Trump campaign or administration suffers a political setback and then within a few days it’s followed by the exact kind of shooting that’s most politically advantageous for them, they sure keep getting lucky with those complete coincidences

Exactly! You can’t create a good storyline clearly.
If you consider random NPC dialogue "boring and unimportant" and you're okay with relegating that to gen AI, frankly I can't trust that the rest of your narrative is any good either.
Buy a solo indie dev's game because I want to support them.

Find out it uses OpenAI to write "non-important NPC dialogue".

AND supporting your local library is super important! If you actually DO want books to be available to everyone, the library *already exists* and is staffed by the people who are deep in the trenches of fighting censorship! Supporting the library is doing actual good for your community!

For like the zillionth time: Libraries are FREE for you, but WE still get compensated for our work!!
Just saw someone claim that authors who want to be paid for their work are "class traitors" because we "only let the wealthy" read our books, and I think I need to go into the woods to scream into the night for a bit.

It's $5, not your first-born child! I need that $5 for health insurance!

An excellent primer on the long, horrifying history of antisemitism. ⬇️
I think it’s time to put this one back out into the ether, friends

Come and learn about how the tropes undergirding anti-Jewish hatred and conspiracy theories as they exist today came to be…
The Antisemitism Post (tm)
Gotta get the history to know where the tropes live in the discourse today.

They're not set up to be local police, they never should have been deployed.

I am a little tired of being yelled at for this but apparently not tired about: heroin addiction is not RFK’s problem. He’s a sociopath. Most addicts aren’t. Honestly, walk into an NA meeting, grab the first person with a few years to be head of HHS and they’d probably do a better job than Bobby.
This is what happens when you put a privileged, 14 year heroin addict in charge of health. Duh

Leading up to dumb Fathom Events release Great American Family announces a third movie in the Candace Cameron Bure-Cameron Mathison cinematic universe, A SWEET CHRISTMAS ANNIVERSARY, coming in 2026

Gee, I wonder if the wedding happens or not in the movie coming out in 4 days? Mystery for the ages 🙄
Still laughing about what a dumb ego trip this is

Not only is it SEQUEL to low-budget, barely-watched TV movie, but wearing wedding dress on poster and movie originally A HOME SWEET CHRISTMAS WEDDING, yet only vaguely unrevealed story beat: Will wedding happen?

Wish Fathom released box office info
Official Fathom Events announcement for ANOTHER SWEET CHRISTMAS, including perhaps worst-cut trailer I've ever seen.

And, if you thought theatrical release meant Great American Family spent more than 9 cents making this…Well, not that you can see on screen.
