So here's a tip: turn off all notifications for social media. I'm not kidding. Stop the cycle where it starts. Only go onto Bluesky and Discord or whatever when you want to. Don't let the app tell you when to look at it. You're the boss of it, not the other way round
Biased because I'm a history nerd, but these were pretty compulsive reading:

The government is already like Balatro; you do the best you can with what you're given, it feels great when you win, it sucks when you lose. And it's all about the numbers going up
What does this even mean? Why would I want government to be like sudoku?

Guys like Matt Walsh have two moods, "I am the hardest toughest, manliest man that has ever existed" and "I remembered they discontinued Surge and cried for 30 minutes."
In which Matt Walsh realizes he’s no longer 12.

Ukraine will never agree to this. And rightly so
Reuters:

U.S. PROPOSALS TO END WAR INCLUDE UKRAINE GIVING UP TERRITORY AND SOME WEAPONS, REDUCING SIZE OF ARMED FORCES, AMONG MANY OTHER POINTS – TWO PEOPLE FAMILIAR WITH THE MATTER // U.S. HAS SIGNALLED TO ZELENSKIY THAT UKRAINE MUST ACCEPT FRAMEWORK AND ITS MAIN POINTS, THE SOURCES SAY

lol the only response to this is "get fucked"
New: I can confirm hasty US-Russia proposal being pushed to Ukrainians via Dmitriev-Witkoff to Umerov. It would amount to Ukraine’s capitulation, with people familiar saying it’s Kremlin’s maximalist demands.
-Ukraine army cut 1/2
-Give up certain weapons
-Give up Donbas
-Zelensky displeased

As someone who hates insincere small talk, flatterers, employees pretending to care how you're doing, etc, I'm occasionally reminded how many people apparently enjoy having their whole day filled with insincere ass-kissing and it makes me feel a little gross

Does the West Virginia GOP really have nothing better to do than run this stupid lebensraum bullshit every time one of their eastern neighbors elects a Democrat?
November 19, 2025 at 1:16 PM
But Matt Yglesias and Simon Bazelon told me this would never happen unless Democrats dumped environmentalism and reinstitute the death penalty

The thing is, voters sometimes think they want something until they actually get it. "Popular things" isn't a fixed data point.

"Deport the fuck out if everyone as hard as possible" was popular until it wasn't
Some controversial ideas of mine:

1. It’s better to say things voters agree with than things they disagree with

2. When in office, it’s important to try to do a good job of governing

It's amazing how Bazelon just refuses to acknowledge the existence of either thermostatic opinion or exogenous events in changing anyone's minds, independent of party planks
this is the post that drove me insane and has me considering tossing myself out the nearest window

this is just a wild thing to tweet a week after democrats won a statewide in Georgia by 20 points. completely divorced from the current electoral environment

All these digital assistant/AI ads seem to strain to come up with situations where you would use it.

"Use the Amazon thingy to keep track of your wins in Helldivers 2 and use real money to send real tissues to your defeated friend. Just like you've always wanted to"
just saw the worst gaming ad ive ever seen

I guess Thatcher's Maxim applies to Nuzzi: if you have to just directly tell her critics that she's talented, it means she's not
I regret to inform you that Olivia Nuzzi's book appears to be Perfect

Possibly the platonic ideal of a Bluesky post is a Canadian commenting on a Twitter screencap and pivoting to attacking Dems from the future he made up to get mad at.
If these people are ever thrown out of power, I hope we all understand there is no reformist pathway for institutions like this as much as Dems might desperately wish and claim there is.
