Been thinking about this and while the Klingons having conquered species makes sense, Cardassia only having conquered Bajor does seem arguable. They're famously resource scarce and to me on TNG and DS9 feel like slightly weaker than the Romulans and the Klingons (even before things go sideways)

It is so weird you can accurately say this about a Star Wars show. That’s not how this is supposed to work, but here we are
Moving on from this to The Expanse and I fear I've set Andor up to be brutalised by comparison.
Watching Andor with my partner who hasn't seen it and also hates Star Wars and whilst I have a lot of issues with season 2 ... can't deny the dialogue is sharp and it's *satisfying* to see a 'realistic' take on the universe.

Novels and games have done this occasionally but in the shows it’s pretty much the Kriosians by TNG time, though confusingly it comes up in “The Mind’s Eye,” an episode they do not directly appear in, and not at all in “The Perfect Mate”, where the Kriosians play a major role.
