Why on earth is RTÉ reporting on the opinions of the British author of a discredited transphobic report? What is the value to this information being circulated?

Peadar Tóibín's constituents come to his office for help. He goes to the Minister and the press to complain about them not being deported.

This disappointment here is palpable, which is funny because you would think the Political Editor of the Irish Times would have at least had some familiarity with how Catherine Connolly operates!
Catherine Connolly’s first 100 days as President: ‘She’s careful, she’s considered, she’s steady’
Expectations that she would enter into open conflict with Government Buildings have not transpired, though some observers believe she is feeling her way into the role

A hill I will die on: I do not understand the obsession with frame rate in videogames, I can barely tell the difference and as long as the rate is consistent it has 0 impact on my enjoyment of the game

OK #SpeirGorm this is a big one. The public consultation for "Grow College Green" is open from now until March 11. Have your say! This will radically reshape the heart of Dublin City and this is our once-in-a-generation chance to make it great for everyone!

Generally unconvinced re: cultural boycotts, incl sports. But thing is if, you are doing it, you have to commit. Eg Olympics banning Russia but allowing Russian athletes to compete is a farce

Similarly, as FAI voted to expel Israel from UEFA, they kind of have to refuse to play them. Or else, farce

FF’s Mary Fitzpatrick has ruled herself out of the Dublin Central by-election. The senator, who has run in that constituency for the last five general elections, has written to FF members saying she wants to see out her term in the Seanad. Cabra-Glasnevin councillor John Stephens now likely to run.

I know I've said before multiple times that this government isn't interested in governing but holy shit. This is next-level allergy to responsibility

On the one hand, if we don't do anything to stop climate change, Blackrock will be wiped off the map

Minor interesting thing about the visual propaganda being churned out by the US "department of war" - the AI they are using to generate this slop keeps putting Shahed-136s/Geran-2s in the images

Leave aside that government blaming everything on judicially reviews has reached auto-parodic levels

Let's say they do heavily restrict or even ban them, yet everything remains fucked, because they know as well as the rest of us that JRs aren't to blame. Then what?

These look like awful numbers for the government, and in many ways they are, but they also kind of aren't? I should probably write something longer on this. But we are nowhere near the levels of anger at gov (and crucially, support for SF) on housing we were at in '22-'23
New polling on Ireland's housing crisis:

- 81% want the government to build more social housing "even if there are local objections"

- 64% disagree government is making progress on housing

- 67% would vote for a constitutional right to housing

- 29% are personally affected by the housing crisis
Appetite for radical change grows as voters’ patience wears thin over housing crisis
Half of all voters say country’s problems are getting worse instead of better

What "core British values" has "the left" not defended? Can someone ask this sentient fucking saucepan what he means?
Keir Starmer attacks the racism of Reform and Matt Goodwin but then adds that "Britain has also been let down by a mindset on the left of politics that is too slow to defend core British values"
