If we are pals or were friends on Twitter, but I haven't followed you back, feel free to reply here or DM me. I am easily overwhelmed and miss things and have a terrible working memory :)
Taylor Lorenz, Matt Yglesias, and Will Stancil are all examples of people I disagree with quite often but will never block or interact with because for whatever sick reason I’ve got to see what they’re thinking and saying. Azealia Banks used to be on that list but she got too crazy lol

Michael Tracey wasn’t getting enough attention in a media soaked with conservative grifters, increasingly irrelevant post-left takes, and nonstop evil politics, so he’s looking for an out. Sorry buddy they’re not gonna put you on Fox News :( I think we’re gonna go see crazier takes from these guys
Would you believe me if I told you it got so much worse from there

This sucks, but I'm not sure it will function differently than many other evangelical churches already do when it comes to interpreting what Jesus thinks or would do. Thanks to their politics, maybe conservative Christians are already used to the idea of a flashy god that only offers lip service.

getting a text from my boyfriend "NPR did a segment on the music from Katamari Damacy" and man it is always great to be recognized by your loved ones for exactly the type of person you are

Trying to imagine telling my former Pentecostal childhood self that anyone calling themselves a “Satanist” isn’t actually the devil worshipper evil incarnate, just a really annoying atheist with goth undertones

You think having sex to Alvin and the Chipmunks or Tiny Tim is better than “Glory Box”??? you can’t tell me what to do Geoff Barrow

nothing

Their entire organization's goal is "I hope we can get conservative Christians to like us" which is a pointless endeavor that will fail... and more importantly, does not do anything for LGBTQ+ Christians except put them in harm's way
My big question for the Reformation Project is: what are they doing to address issues like how there is a disproportionate number of unhoused queer youth in the Deep South because the Southern Baptist Church explicitly commands its members to disown their queer children?
Was thinking of writing a takedown of Reformation Project for their anti-polyamory push for “biblical” same-sex marriage (that doesn’t exist lmao) with monogamy and premarital chastity, but honestly I can only pretty much come up with “fart noises, fuck you, Jesus loves me best”

all jokes aside, as the mom of a teen boy it freaks me out to see people normalizing attraction to 15 year olds. My guy is super smart and mature but still loves playing with his younger brother and reading Captain Underpants. teen girls are sexualized too young, teen boys are criminalized too young

BREAKING: Starbucks workers have launched a massive, nationwide strike.

Baristas in 40 cities have walked off the job on the busiest day of Starbucks' year.

Upwards of 12,000 @sbworkersunited.org members could ultimately go on strike as the union escalates.

Trying to research the veracity of using peanut butter as a household item in non-food uses for work, and wow do I regret ever googling “peanut butter lubricant“ (meant as in WD-40…)

Honestly the best way for Trump to win at this point is to die. It'd be such a major fuck you to both parties. The unfaithful GOP would no longer have the star power to attract people to their terrible platform, and the DNC will have to focus on actual policies instead of just Trump and Epstein.

I only have a few Bluesky lists/labelers for blocks and mutes -- maybe two? -- for worst kinds of people. I still prefer to block and mute individually haha. HOWEVER I can see the appeal. I think there are people I've followed and unfollowed repeatedly because I can't remember why I don't like them

This article is utterly damning for the New York Times and also for Vanity Fair and ABC, whose editorial teams were apparently intimidated into silence by a mix of legal and violent threats. Virginia Giuffre did not stand a chance against all this.
This story by @davidfolkenflik.bsky.social about Landon Thomas, former NYT reporter now appearing in the latest email tranche, soliciting a $30k contribution from Jeffrey Epstein?

Yes, you can read it here

man if Pope Francis could hack the Catholic Church against a bunch of racist conservative Catholics to ensure more progressive policies and picks after his death, couldn’t we at least have Dems that TRY to get healthcare for their constituents against a government of hated incompetent pedophiles

"Be clear: I blame the protectors of the predators just as much as the rapists themselves because without them, this cycle might’ve ended long ago with sexual abusers, especially those ensconced in politics and media, rooted out," MFP Founding Editor Donna Ladd wrote in August. "Maybe."
The Epstein Saga Is Not a Game. It’s About Protecting Women.
Donna Ladd reflects on her own story amid the still-unfolding Jeffrey Epstein saga of rape, retribution and the protection of sexual predators.

haha you idiots, I spend $70 on a REAL Christmas tree every year that we have to cut down ourselves and transport 1 hour instead of paying that for an artificial one that lasts years! It makes a huge mess in my house, cats destroy it, and I'm allergic to most evergreens!

who's the sucker now huh
Artificial Christmas trees will cost an estimated 10% to 20% more this season than they did last year because of increased tariff costs, according to several major U.S. importers.

And the cost of lights could jump as much as 63% for the same reason.
Tariffs could be coming for your Christmas tree
Mass market Christmas decor, including artificial trees, hasn't been manufactured in the United States for decades.

Are people mad at this because it's under a GOP administration? I think those people should be in the Hague but I think getting rid of the penny is a good idea... is that controversial???? Why can't prices be by $0.05, that sounds great
US Mint in Philadelphia presses final pennies as the 1-cent coin gets canceled
The U.S. Mint has ended production of the penny, a change made to save money and in recognition of the growing irrelevance of the 1-cent coin.

Anna Karenina, which is quoted on my chestpiece, changed my relationship with God and religion more than any other work of fiction.
performative reading, lack of reading skills, nobody's reading anymore -- NO!

tell me about a book that changed you

for me? the *extremely* ahistorical novel, THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY which I read at 13 and was like, "Oh, art can be *everything* to a maker, for good and bad"

Pretty sure a bipartisan movement to transform the senate would make moves at this point. What a stupid legislative branch. Starting to think bicameral isn’t great
NEWS: Airlines whose profits were threatened by Trump’s flight reductions funneled huge cash to the Senate Democrats who voted to help the GOP end the shutdown without preventing huge cuts to Americans’ health care.

The Senate Dems who voted to end the shutdown without extending ACA subsidies took in a third of airlines’ PAC-driven election spending last year.
