#FuckYouMakeMe

You want me to shut up?
Fuck you. Make me.

You think I should be less tolerant, less kind, less just, less steadfast?
Fuck you. Make me.

You expect me to carve away the best parts of me, the parts you hate, the parts you *fear*?

Fuck you.

Make me.
"And when they come to you with stupid, ridiculous demands—picking fights you know you can win in court—instead of rolling over, why not stand up? And use four words they don’t tend to teach you in business school, the only phrase that can genuinely make a weak bully go away: Fuck you. Make me.”

Note for Democratic politicians: you don't have to start your condemnations of ICE raids with "We all want to catch violent criminals, but..." Just say "These raids have nothing to do with catching criminals and everything to do with terrorizing innocent minority groups."

🙏🏼 Preliminary injunction granted. The rescission of a deferred-action program for young persons with Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (“SIJS-DA”) is stayed.

The govt is also enjoined from removing the Individual Plaintiffs from the continental U.S. during the pendency of this litigation.

we are returning to the state in which the framers intended for the legislature, in which the lower chamber and the upper chamber absolutely despise one another
The House has voted unanimously to repeal the provisions in the shutdown package which allow GOP Senators to sue the federal government and get as much as $1 million in damages - because the feds looked at their phone records in the Jan. 6 investigation.

extremely cool false dichotomy that is largely self-refuting given one of the big planks you're advocating is pivoting away from protecting civil rights

I actually WOULD like a blowout victory that clearly demonstrates the unviability of white nationalism, which means taking a hard line against it.
this is just a wild thing to tweet a week after democrats won a statewide in Georgia by 20 points. completely divorced from the current electoral environment

Another name for this would be "pre-existing conditions," a way used to exclude disabled people from health care for decades in the US.

Understand, when you hear people talk about "rewarding the healthy" - these are policies that have a body count.
Please understand that "reward people for being healthy", in health insurance, also translates to "punish people for being disabled."

The people who are most vulnerable, most in need, will be asked to bear higher costs, in many cases, pricing them out of accessing health care, into early graves.
Markwayne Mullin: "Reward people for being healthy. Think about this. Healthcare is the only industry that you're not rewarded for taking care of your responsibility. If you think about homeowners insurance, if you're within 500 feet of a fire hydrant, your insurance goes down."

So let's go over this again.
• trans rights are human rights
• LGBTQ+ rights are human rights
• gay people deserve to marry and adopt
• Women's rights are humsn rights.
• Believe women
• black lives matter

It’s a shame we’ve even gotten to the point of needing a discharge petition.

there was an amazing article about exactly this somewhere

in the old days where everyone was paid well and was unionized, this chart was reversed, living expenses were cheap but luxuries like TVs and whatnot were what you had to save up for. You could live a comfortable life if you were frugal
Pretty much all affordability discourse could benefit from just posting this chart.

If you're in the better off America, all the luxury goods you want in excess are for the most part much cheaper. If you're in the poorer America, most of the shit you need to live/grow is more expensive.
