pretty much all civility discourse can be boiled down to “i want to say bigoted shit, and i don’t want to be called a bigot in response. if i use graphs or charts or express it through abstract policies, i should be allowed this.” like there’s almost nothing else to it
Civility discourse is a war on thinking and writing clearly. None of this is in defense of nuance. What civility pundits want is to be absolved of responsibility for the content of what they say, provided it's expressed in a particular way. Their fight is against judgement itself.
