USFS men felt “after a few days of life on the peak she would telephone that she was frightened by the loneliness & the danger” but saw “she was full of pluck & high spirit... she grew more & more in love with the work.”

She adjusted stirrups when society asked women to adjust corsets.

Hallie Daggett (December 19, 1878 - October 19, 1964) was a pioneering figure of the Forest Service as the first woman fire tower lookout. A quote is attributed to her stating “My interest is kept up by the feeling of doing something for my country-for the protection and conservation of these great forests is truly a pressing need ... I like it; I love it! And that's why I'm here.” The theme “All of Us” is proclaimed at the top, with the subheading #AltCitizen. Carson challenged the widespread use of pesticides in her book “Silent Spring,” and testified before Congress on environmental policy and human health. 🧪 👩‍🔬
