As we step into a new year, now is the time to focus on a resolution that protects lives and strengthens communities: preparedness.

In California, readiness isn’t optional. Building an emergency kit and knowing when and where to evacuate are actions that matter long before an emergency starts.

Be alert for severe weather.

After major storms, watch for downed power lines, unstable roadways, and other hazards. Never touch or drive over a downed power line—assume it is energized and report it.

♻ Batteries are NOT trash!

After the holidays, many of us have new gadgets... and old batteries to deal with.

Never throw used batteries in the garbage or recycling bin. They can overheat, catch fire, or cause other hazards if not handled properly.

A squall line/narrow cold frontal rainband (NCFR) has developed over Ventura County, generating torrential rainfall, wind gusts to 60 mph, and iso. t-storms. This line will likely produce flash flooding as it moves eastward into LA County. Note very mild airmass in mid 60s! #CAwx
