one thing we need to do as a society is treat all fraud or theft over $100 million or so as a potential capital crime, with the possibility of execution for offenders.

No it’s important to listen to this. Because then you understand that many of them will do ANYTHING to keep power. Remember Musk got involved in the 2024 election after saying to Tucker “if she wins” I am definitely going to prison.

So we need to move knowing that nothing is off the table for them.
Steve Bannon: If we lose the midterms and we lose 2028, some in this room are going to prison, myself included.

my ideal response to AI and crypto is a lot closer to an air strike than a bailout
“It’s not that I’m for austerity, it’s just that I’m against bailing out AI, crypto, private assets/university endowments, and I’m fine with canceled Thanksgiving flights and missed paychecks as long as Republicans take the blame for it.”

i can't claim to know Kat as well as I'd like but there's never been a shred of doubt in my mind that she believes what she says and is willing to put her body on the line for that belief. I admire her.
Kat Abugazeh’s campaign has crossed a threshold where the risk she’s taking is significant enough and the actions admirable enough I sorta am past caring if it’s a publicity stunt/brand building exercise or not, it’s still brave and worthy of respect.

I have been charged in a federal indictment sought by the Department of Justice.

This political prosecution is an attack on all of our First Amendment rights. I’m not backing down, and we’re going to win.

Trump was able to find $40 billion to bail out Argentina and $300 million for his new ballroom.

Yet he can't find funds to prevent millions of Americans from losing access to healthcare or stop kids from going hungry.

Cruelty is the point.

If the only way to win an election in America is to be a gutter racist party of gutter racists then America is a failed project beyond salvation.

I don't believe that is yet the case but if someone is at the point they believe it they need to stop bothering with election campaigns and build bunkers
The overriding theme seems to be that this is a group which runs across the gambit of all the leftward of center that believes we should actively lower our standards in a race to the bottom against Trumpism.
the battle lines on Platner are genuinely weird. I do think he has *more* supporters on the left wing of the party then the center but it's really odd that there is a MattY/Ryan Grimm axis at all

In 1970s America this would have led to a successful impeachment of a president. Now politicians cower and the media has the attention span of a goldfish.
I obviously had… low expectations for this year once the election was called but i honestly think the first moment I Knew how screwed we were — as a nation, our politics, or democratic health, our media — was the trump doj Eric Adams scandal just came & went, like it was another thing in the news

Actually, encouraging Jews to emigrate is exactly what the Nazis did 1933-39.
