This is the kind of thread that used to make social media actually magic. And still can, apparently!!
In your 20s, there will be a LARPing event that will suck so bad you'll spend three days having back to back panic attacks.

It's very important that you go.

Or: let me tell you about how I learnt I was autistic. 🧵

In Missouri prisons, people can purchase some Nintendo Game Boy Advance titles on their Securus tablets. Last year, Byron wrote about how Harvest Moon took over his facility: "About a week after the game was made available, it was the only thing you heard many prisoners here talking about."

It seems that everyone here is tending farms in Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town.

I have spent about a week getting my ass kicked by an outline. Multiple drafts of multiple paths through the story, all hitting dead ends, or taking too long to get to the point. The job is to work through these until I find the one that works. A machine randomizing a hundred more options ain’t it.

America, you have spoken loud and clear: You do not like AI. But what if AI is the way to restart the world’s idea machine?
We’re running out of good ideas. AI might be how we find new ones.
What if the best use of AI is restarting the world’s idea machine?

This is one of the things that's often missing from online discussions of anti-capitalist theory. The question that actually determines our socioeconomic status and fate is this:

Do you live off what you're paid for your own labor, or off the profits you draw from the labor of others?
I can’t believe you idiots are still arguing with me about this. Idc what your job is paying you now, you still have to labor for your money. You’re working class.

All it takes is an unfortunate accident or illness for you to be in the poor house. Medical debt and fallout would cripple you. Stfu.
All of you are poor. These hypothetical poor people everyone is discussing are us. We’re poor. Idc if you make 6 figures or not. You’re poor too.

This really exposes that AI shills are not artists and never will be. They're business people, and more to the point CEOs.

The premise here is that, if you are already a creator, you can create "exponentially more" now. The idea behind *that* is that this growth means you can also make more money.

The writing is my favorite part. Why would I want a machine to do the thing I LOVE? I get fulfillment & purpose from the hours, days, & weeks I pour into a single scene. Why would I want that to be over & done in minutes? Where's the joy in that?

And why? So I can have more time to wash dishes?

If you have the DVD, you can watch the making of in which Christopher Lee gets quite snippy while insisting: “It’s not a horror film. It’s a musical thriller.” Personally I’m always up for Sing-Along-a-Wicker Man, and I listened to the soundtrack obsessively as a teenager so I know all the lyrics
The Wicker Man was a musical.

This is why many who have tried to copy it have failed, you gotta have prominent folks songs about coitus to torment repressed policemen with.

All the fun of gluing tiny parts to plastic models and then painting them, but with 98% less Catholicism.

I really feel like this is an untapped market.

Had a dream last night that was the usual mess, but at the end, I was watching a giant polar bear walk toward me, carrying a volcano like a snailshell on its back.

“Welp,” I said to the person next to me, “that’s either a god or a Pokemon.”
