Gay shit. Sometimes even award-winning gay shit. BLACKFISH CITY; etc. RED STAR HUSTLE is a USA Today Bestseller! https://linktr.ee/samjmiller
This sounds so amazing - just bought my copy!!
Reckoning X is here! It's our collectively-edited 10th anniversary issue, themed on communication in environmental justice. See @monarobot.bsky.social's cover art and read editorials from @michaeljdeluca.bsky.social, @cgaubrey.bsky.social, and an exquisite corpse (!): reckoning.press/reckoning-x/

Are there any good feeds for short story love? ShortStorySky? 😅 I would love to tap into (or build) a practice of spreading the love for awesome stories we've read (and written)

"Blanquitos" by Karlo Yeager Rodriguez @kjy1066.bsky.social, in Typebar Magazine @typebarmagazine.bsky.social

Another short story writer who rarely fails to knock it out of the park, Karlo delivered a fantastic piece this year....

I cannot provide any useful thoughts on 2025 SFF overall because between The Horrors + researching and drafting my own book + being kinda burnt out from award judging in 2024 I barely read any SFF between January and November, BUT I can affirm that these are all REAL REAL GOOD.
2025 was a nightmare... & an amazing year for short fiction.

On my newsletter, I rounded up the stories I think you need - for your soul, & your award ballots

(mine are there, but it's mostly from others)

I'll shout them out here, as well!

Aaaaa omg thank you so much for recommending "To Access Seven Obelisks, Press Enter"!! It's one of my favorite pieces, and I'm so glad people have been enjoying it 💜

Besides, what's not to love about queer yearning snowballing into destroying capitalism? ✨

Guess who had a story come out over at @100footcrow.bsky.social today?

It's a weird little haunting story that I had a lot of fun with. Come give it a poke!

Like this is amazing for unhoused people, a dearth of public bathrooms is totally about creating a hostile world for them, but also speaking as someone who is on Metformin and has a sibling with ulcerative colitis just being able to easily find somewhere to POOP in a sudden time of need is so great
Mayor Zohran Mamdani and City Council Speaker Julie Menin on Saturday announced an initiative to install more public bathrooms across the city.

Have any of you developed solid strategies for getting necessary intel and updates without immediately flipping into rage mode? The facts are one thing, I want those, but the toxic hate and justification from the mouthpieces of Death Cult running the show truly truly spike my blood pressure

Very proud of everything I put out this year. Here’s hoping next year will be even more spooky and queer!

Since the infighting and one-upsmanship has started--people who feel helpless + frustrated turn on each other, it's just a sad fact--remember: you don't have to like the people you fight alongside. Your comrades will say profoundly stupid bullshit to you, about you, etc. Let it roll off, keep going

This is not a Venezuela post.

I have strong feelings but no special knowledge there.

But I've spent 30 years adoring artists who've responded to U.S.-backed atrocity.

And this week, I talk about the lessons we can learn from them.

G-d, it has become so exhausting to engage with any text at all on social media or email - I can't stop asking myself "is this A.I.?" and then remembering we got so accustomed to garbage text that slop has long been the norm and WHY AM I HERE, WHY ARE ANY OF US HERE
