There's this new screening method for lung cancer they're starting here for heavy smokers. It's roughly 20% more efficient at finding early-stage lung cancer in that specific risk group, with less inherent risk.

But just in case you thought maybe we'd moved past medical sexism with newer methods:

I started a new story just for the laughs. It's set in the US (first time in a decade for me), so accounting for the somewhat unlikely possibility that this will end up publishing-ready, I guess I'm gonna. Flip that switch back to US spelling for this one.

For the love of all that is holy, alt text your snarky political posts! I have so much crap filtered but that doesn't absolutely nothing if there is nothing *to* filter.

If you can't be arsed to do full alt text, at least add something like "post about [US president]", that'll do it for most of us.

We're calling for submissions to the Black Archive from disabled authors and authors of colour, who we know have been underrepresented in the range.

Please spread this as widely as you can, as we want it to reach as many eligible authors as possible. Thank you.

The way the press is treating chatbots, like they have agency and they “know” things all of a sudden, crossed the line recently from dumb and obsequious to something else entirely. Treating them as alive and making conscious decisions is an almost religious belief. It won’t age well.

Bro, this is HUGE! 😭
OMG 😭

Huntington's is an inherited disease that's like Alzheimers + Parkinson's all in one. NOW: "once the gene therapy has been delivered into the brain... [it] injects a piece of DNA to reprogram the neuron to become a factory for its own cure."

LIFE SAVING!

Real talk: I've been seriously thinking about finally starting that horror pen name in 2026. I love the genre, and I have somewhat developed concepts for at least three books.

But like. The genre is full of AI. I'm browsing KU horror, and half of it is slop covers with slop blurbs and slop SEO.

Yup. A lot more detailed than usual this year, too. I put it into a calendar, with fancy colours and everything^^

I want to have at least one first draft finished in Q1 of the year, so it can come out in Q3. Maybe finish a second draft in Q4 as well.

And yes, I have weeks off blocked off, too 😅
Good morning! Have you set your writing goals for the year yet?

If you have, we'd love to hear about them!

Then ‘gender critical’ transphobic activist-journalists drop headlines like this after years of replacing the word “people” with “ideology”….

Nobody should be surprised that trans people are upset!

TERFs barely bother with dog-whistles anymore, when talk of trans-extermination is so blatant! 😖

I am desperately trying not to forget that this is tomorrow 😅

Probably gonna enter Blade of the Crown this time around.
Are you entering this year?

With what book?

The entry form will be up on the official #SPFBO page the day after tomorrow! 😮😮😮
