One of the things that generative ai art slop has done is help me be a more tolerant of imperfections in my own work, because it means it's real.

Which I believe until I start inking. Here's a tiny toad from a larger piece to wish you a happy new year.

This cosmic Octopus might be my favorite painting I made this year!

Practice certainly equals improvement and you will see progress if you spend time doing something over and over again. 🥰 #gouache #Octopus #practice

One of Bluesky's loveliest weekly threads is Womble's Sunday "What are you reading?" post, today with bonus favorite books of 2025.
Good Morning Blue Sky! Hope you’re all ok? Today I’m currently reading and close to finishing the very enjoyable fantasy The Witch Roads by Kate Elliott. What are you reading at the moment?

Also bonus question as it’s the last of 2025 - what was your favourite read this year?

Is there an emoji anyone's using as a response to AI slop in chats, etc.? Maybe a bucket? I don't want to debate whether that's really Liam Neeson in the Santa hat, and whether it's unethical or still funny if it's not him. I just want a mark of shame I can use and move on. 🪣

This is incredibly niche, but potentially useful info for #watercolor painters.

Daniel Smith's single pigment Rich Green Gold paint is an almost perfect dupe for Sennelier's multi pigment (and now discontinued) Brown Pink/Stil de Grain.

I wish I could remember Douglas Adams' description of Dire Straits. Something about how Mark Knopfler played his Stratocaster like an angel on a weekend bender.

Bluesky doesn't have to tell you. If I unfollow someone, it's almost always because of ableism.

If someone unfollows me, it usually means I've been bitching about DeSantis again instead of posting lizard photos.
twitter was never brave enough to show the specific post that made someone unfollow you, but bluesky can still write whatever future it wants

I've always been careful not to anthropomorphize our pet reptiles. I'm attached to them, but don't presume the reverse.

After seeing the nonsense that gets attributed to LLMs, I'm accepting the joy of my cross species relationships. They know me and get pleasure and comfort from me. #herps

Yes! The future is not already settled. In fact, actual serious people (not tech bros or acolytes) are majorly calling into question every aspect of "AI" on a deep level. I compiled 18 pages worth of links to help resist "AI is inevitable" propaganda: docs.google.com/document/d/1...
