"Insults" from the internet that apparently I'm supposed to take offense to:

- "Nice shirt."
- "You write about bobsledding."
- "Your favorite baseball team is a minor league team."
- "Your favorite football team is a CFL team."

All just statements of fact, really.

This is the first Olympic medal for Taubitz, a five-time World Cup champion.

It's the first medal for Latvia ever in women's luge.

Ashley Farquharson becomes the second American woman ever to win an Olympic luge medal behind Erin Hamlin.

Julia Taubitz was the quickest in 3 of the 4 heats in women's luge to win her first Olympic gold medal. Elina Bota or Latvia and USA's Ashley Farquharson took bronze in a tight battle for the podium.

Italy's Verena Hofer and Sandra Robatscher were 4th and 5th.

Just wanted to touch on this again: I've been doing this for a long time, basically live-posting along w/ races and everything like that

I am having so much fun sharing the sliding sports and stories about the people who make the events what they are

I appreciate you all humoring me, it's a blast
I've been running my sliding sport website for nearly 15 years. This is my fourth Winter Olympics I've covered in one way or another.

By far, I've seen more enthusiasm for the Olympics here on Bluesky than I remember on any other social media platform. It's legitimately not even close.

Ashley's traditionally not as quick of a starter, where Verena Hofer is one of the best starters on tour. So this is why she ends up a bit behind early. But Ashley's so good at finding time late, and she did that right here.

Just a near-perfect slide by a legitimately great person.
Ashley Farquharson's bronze winning luge run, the second ever US medal in women's luge

Can confirm.
Guys, she FaceTimed a friend of hers is in between heats

“She was nervous and just trying to calm down, think she needed a friend chat 😭”
Ash isn't the biggest starter, so she'll give up some time early. In the red early. But she's a glider, she'll make up time if she's clean. SHE'S MAKING UP TIME. FARQUHARSON IS PULLING AHEAD AND SHE'S GOING TO WIN AN OLYMPIC MEDAL!!!

IT'S NO WORSE THAN BRONZE FOR USA LUGE!!!

Reached out to a few biathlon friends of mine regarding Sweden's skiing. The consensus seems to be: "I don't think the Swedish are very good at altitude."

Which, you know, is going to be a problem.
