I don't understand this or the daily Bluesky posts re how we'll have new Nuremberg Trials after Trump. Trump committed unprecedented atrocities in his first term; Biden forgave him and his leading Nazi cohorts. Not a single 2028 Democratic Presidential contender has vowed to do what needs to be done
Anyone still serving in the Trump Administration must reckon with the reality that, when the government has previously perpetrated egregious miscarriages of justice, history has not been forgiving to those who’ve gone along, however reluctantly. www.newyorker.com/magazine/202...
History’s Judgment of Those Who Go Along
Some civil servants and senior officials in the Trump Administration are experiencing bouts of conscience.

I had never seen a scene like this before in film, a scene that spoke to me so profoundly. As boys turning to men, we were not allowed to cry, to feel, and to bear our pain silence. Again: Rob Reiner was one of the Greats. youtu.be/UJT9M04j1-s?...

between this and the afghani interpreters, america is really going out of its way to show foreign nationals what happens if you assist our nation in its objectives
In late 2020 a Chinese man called Guan Heng travelled to Xinjiang with our BuzzFeed map of detention facilities to provide ground truth for our work - he provided the first corroborating evidence for many sites.

He escaped to the US - then ICE detained him.

Heng Guan is awaiting an immigration hearing on Monday that could lead to his removal from the U.S. and ultimately land him back in China, according to his lawyer and a New York-based activist group.

Finally modern audiences will get to experience what Star Wars was like before they got an Englishman to dub over Alec Guinness’s New Jersey accent

This is a Bill Simmons game, but you’re stranded on a desert island. You can only have one actor’s filmography. You get it all, including cameos. But just the one performer.

I’m taking Cate Blanchett: Talented Mr. Ripley, LOTR, Life Aquatic, Black Bag, Tár, Ponyo, Hot Fuzz, Eyes Wide Shut, Thor

An ICE agent was caught removing a sign marking an ICE kidnapping in DC last week! Do we think he did it out of anger, embarrassment, or most appropriately shame? If you think what you’re doing is right, why are you trying to hide the evidence? 👀

The U.S. State Department is repeating a white nationalist conspiracy theory.

On Friday, it claimed that “mass migration poses an existential threat to Western civilization.”

That line comes straight from the Great Replacement myth: the lie that immigration is a plot to erase white populations.

I spoke to Mahmood Mamdani about his new book, his expulsion from Uganda, his son Zohran, and *that* NYT article.

After being expelled from his homeland in 1972, the academic has grappled with questions of political belonging – a major theme of his son’s mayoral campaign

As many have pointed out, Mamdani didn't stand apart from our trans brothers and sisters. He didn't play the "Gee, gosh, it sure is complicated," milquetoast moderate card. And he crushed.
