Combating antisemitism and protecting democracy
Pinned
This just in: Today, we’re releasing our response to the weaponization of antisemitism by the Trump administration and Project Esther.

The Shofar Report is a new blueprint for combating antisemitism while defending democracy.
Project Esther created a blueprint for Trump to fight antisemitism. The ‘Shofar Report’ is a liberal response.

The U.S. attack on Venezuela has led to a surge in antisemitic rhetoric online, as we’ve seen waves of antisemitism after most major news stories for years.

What separates this is not the occurrence, but the incredibly high engagement we're seeing online. Take this post with nearly 2 million views:

"Here I am, once again, explaining why codifying a contested definition into law was always a bad idea—not because antisemitism isn’t real, but because there isn’t consensus on a single definition, and the definition some groups keep trying to enshrine has serious problems." @sikevin99.bsky.social

This will get less attention than Tucker Carlson's interview with Fuentes. It shouldn't.

This week, Carlson hosted Ian Carroll, a conspiracy theorist who has blamed Jews for 9/11, spread claims of Jewish control over gov't and media, and promoted the "Khazar" myth to delegitimize Jewish identity.

We appreciate that Mayor Mamdani has expressed a clear commitment to engaging a wide range of Jewish voices in the fight against antisemitism and hate, and that the city will continue to operate an Office to Combat Antisemitism.

Cutting cancer research is bad for Jews 👏

The Nexus Project's @sikevin99.bsky.social spoke with @aljazeeraenglish.bsky.social about the dangers of Heritage Foundation’s Project Esther and why cutting cancer research is antithetical to Jewish safety.

Thank you to Doug Emhoff for the clarity. There is no contradiction between protecting Jews and defending free speech.

Jewish Americans are not a monolith.

...But most of us can agree the last two people we want sharing their views on antisemitism are Tucker Carlson and Matt Gaetz

THREAD: While Jews mourn the deadliest antisemitic attack in Australian history, disinformation and justification narratives are spreading on the left, and progressive silence is enabling it.

Since they’ll keep pushing this false narrative, we’ll keep pushing back: the idea that one Jewish philanthropist is puppeteering a party or cause or the country is antisemitic and a threat to our pluralistic democracy.

My kneejerk was "OH NO THIS IS GONNA VIOLATE FREE SPEECH" but then I actually read it and this is objectively good.

It reopens a bunch of Civil Rights Offices, creates a national center for reporting hate crimes, preserves free speech re: Israel, and counters Trump's exploitation of antisemitism.

“'This bill reflects what the Nexus Project has long championed: that democracy and Jewish safety are inseparable,' said Jonathan Jacoby, the Nexus Project’s president and national director."

The bill would fully fund the Office of Civil Rights and create a national antisemitism coordinator position.

@schumer.senate.gov on the Coast Guard downgrading swastikas to "potentially divisive": "It's a 'stand back and stand by' in the form of an office memo."
December 17, 2025 at 10:37 PM
This is a serious cause for concern.

Anyone who cares about Jewish safety should speak out.

By re-classifying swastikas as "potentially divisive," the Coast Guard and the U.S. government are sending a message to neo-Nazis and white nationalists that Jew hate and racism are acceptable.
Coast Guard enacts policy calling swastikas, nooses ‘potentially divisive’
The Coast Guard’s workplace harassment manual that downgrades the definition of swastikas and nooses quietly went into effect this week.

Denouncing the heinous racism of Randy Fine should be the bare minimum we can expect of American Jewish institutions. This does nothing to make Jews safer and divides us when we need solidarity more than ever.
This is inflammatory, racist, Islamophobic, and contemptible. It is also the height of irony to push out this screed in the name of Jewish safety, given that we have repeatedly seen how interconnected antisemitism and xenophobia are.

Nope, Mr. Vice President. We're not falling for this trap.

Stop trying to pit Jews against immigrants and other communities. We see through this strategy. And we recognize this for what it is: weaponizing antisemitism.

Instead, try starting with the antisemitism within your own administration.

This is outrageous anti-Muslim hate.

It's disgraceful and alarming that a U.S. Senator thinks it's ok to spread this noxious bigotry, which endangers Muslims and undermines democracy.

Responding to violence against Jewish people with hatred towards Muslims does nothing to keep us safe.

We are heartbroken by the horrific terrorist attack at Bondi Beach in Sydney.

Hanukkah commemorates the Jewish people's resilience and their right to exist, worship, and live openly as Jews. The perpetrators of this attack sought to extinguish that light and terrorize Jewish communities worldwide.

Thank you for taking a stand. As Jews, we can't tolerate this type of racism from the people who claim to represent us.
Here is Congressman Randy Fine explicitly calling for the genocide of Muslims.

This is abhorrent. We are disgusted by Congressman Fine's persistent and rampant anti-Muslim racism and call on all American Jewish leaders to speak out.
