abolish marriage as a function of the state. you can still get married but it has no legal merit and confers no special status. "but what about my inheritence / healthcare / pension"? guess what fuckers, we also get UBI, a robus welfare state, fully-funded NHS and high-quality social housing for all
"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.

I've spent my morning learning about this and I'm completely baffled.

One of the biggest proponents of the cueing system -- after decades of research disproving his theories -- is adamant that learning words isn't as important as "making sense."

As far as I can tell, that means "making shit up."

And we knew this. This wasn't speculation. We studied it, we had the talking points. We trained volunteers to explain this to people. It's not a surprise. Rich people don't flee places with good quality of life when we increase the quality of life. They might try to cheat us, but they don't leave.
NEW: The first two years of Massachusetts' millionaire tax has raised $3 billion more than expected.

And rather than driving the rich away, IPS researchers found that the number of millionaires has *increased.*

I wrote about performative ignorance last month. It's exhausting.
"Black people are tired. Not metaphorically tired—actually tired. The kind of tired that turns every group chat into a mix of gallows humor and emotional triage."

I write about white ignorance and how exhausting it is to hear white ppl insist "this isn't who we are, when it's ALWAYS who we've been.

Disbelief over authoritarianism in America isn’t a cutesy personality trait. It’s a confession: You haven’t been paying attention.

I've decided I'll no longer knit socks with superwash yarn. The socks get baggy so quickly!

By the end of the day they're floppy and weird fitting and I can't stand it.

Right now I'm on a West Yorkshire Spinners kick. I was gifted three skeins for my birthday last year.

Recovery from (what I now understand to be autistic) burnout means that my ideas from my long rumination on undergarment fitting are about to be tested.

I'm wearing the longline bra I bought a few years ago, and making notes on alterations that will be needed for comfort.

Soup and bread are magic.

And so is knitting.

Also tea.

I've solved nearly all my clothing related sensory issues by learning to make my own clothes.

My last challenge: a bra that doesn't make me ruminate on solving the discomfort all damn day.

I've concluded that I need a long line bra to distribute the compression.

Long ago I was gifted an enameled cast iron Dutch oven in the shape of a pumpkin. I left it out unused in the kitchen for ages and it got all greasy and dusty outside.

Being an ignoramus who thought I knew how to wash things, used an especially abrasive cleaner on it and ruined the enamel.

After I finish the raglan I'm knitting for Jesse, I'm going to turn to my yarn stash and start knitting hats and scarves to give away.

I have the sinking feeling that this winter is going to be especially hard for people, and they'll need all the warm things for body and spirit.

On hard days I need to remember one of my favorite games: Good Leaf.

It's where I go outside and really look at the leaves, even the ones on the ground this time of year, and find all the ones that make me say, "now that's a good leaf!"

I always feel better.
When my depression’s especially bad I bring myself to the garden centre for the very good fractals. Ngl I’m tempted to buy myself a tiny Christmas tree & handmake all the decorations as a project to help my brain.🌿
PS I found that rowan leaf on the ground.

Take LoTR. The reason evil exists in the books is because the creator is singing new creations into existence and Melkor wants to co-opt the song. It’s the reason Sauron’s armies are twisted forms of elves. The evil in LoTR CANNOT CREATE, they can go “this thing looks like this other thing”

A better question to ask is

Who does it serve to make Mamdani a figurehead ?

Who does it serve to have the current political moment be “young versus old” rather than

“ at this critical juncture? What are people telling us and why is no one facilitating that conversation / whose stopping it”
