Joelle, she/her, AuDHD, cottage industry garment worker, sewing, knitting, spinning, plants, libraries, books, games. Not a fascist trad wife -- I just dress like a story book, and like baking bread and reading Tolkien.
The last four characters saved in your phone are your DND party.

So I've got a yarn store owner, a guy who hands out candy to crying children, Guy Fieri with his Mac & cheese, and the Big Stick Bologna mascot.

I don't know if we'd survive monster encounters, but we'd be fed and warm at least.

We lost our Max four weeks ago and it's awful. Our Max was loved and so was your Sera.

Max's fever has come back, and his energy is low again. He's still eating and has only coughed once since taking a slight down turn, so I'm hopeful he'll recover again.

When he snuggles up on me like this, we call it "baguette time," because my legs look like a baguette couche.

It looks like bread!

I pulled off the end after letting it cool for a half hour. I should have let it cool longer, but I'm hungry.

It's good!

Next time I will use the recommended gf flours instead of the pre-mixed one for one substitute.

It was easy and tastes great for my first try.

Sneak peak for an upcoming project video. I'm altering this sweater I made in 2018 so it fits my current wardrobe silhouette.

I re-knit the neck band yesterday, because I was never really happy with it. It's much better now.

"It's frickin bats! I love Halloween!"

Ruby helpfully models my knitting WIP: "I'm Batty for Halloween" by Charlotte Stone from the Charming Colorwork Socks book.

I forgot I wanted to dry this outside today, so it's out now. I'll bring it in before bed.

It's amazing what a difference a good soak makes on hand spun yarn.

This was my first time with Icelandic wool, and while it's definitely uneven and mostly overspun, it came out way better than I expected.

I didn't take a photo of the filled bobbin, but I finished plying the Icelandic yesterday. 🧶

I think I only had 2 breaks the whole time, and I was easily able to add in new singles as each bobbin ran out.

Some of it is thick/squashy, but most of it is over spun rope. I hope a wash will relax it.

The World of the Luttrell Psalter by Michelle P. Brown arrived today! I got it used for pretty cheap.

The whole Psalter is digitized and available on the British Library website. Good for zooming in to look at all the marginalia.

Bobbin number five of this Icelandic spin. I actually got into a groove today. Still lots of breaks, but I was able to rejoin them easily.

I think I figured out how this wool wants to be held.

I'm sort of fluffing out the roving sideways, and the twist is coming up into the fiber more easily.

Icelandic #Spin15ADay report:

Only two breaks today, and they were both easily re-joined.

I think having a project idea (nalbinding slippers) is helping to sustain the momentum.

I will try Icelandic again eventually, but I'm going to get some more Shetland next, as a treat.

Icelandic wool spin report: only one break today!

I finally learned (at least for this session) to stop when the single gets too thin, to let the draft catch up to the twist while I pause treadling (just like I had to do when I was a beginner).

I mostly share crafts on Instagram, but I thought I'd share this Icelandic I'm currently spinning. 🧶

I use a Kiwi wheel, and it's probably too slow for most spinners. It's great for Icelandic though. I'm still new at spinning, and could easily turn it to rope on a fast wheel.
