Cats, coding, reading, and all things nerdy

Expect either wholesomeness or chaos, there is no in-between!

Hi, I’m Allison!

Here’s the things I usually post or talk about:
- Memes and jokes 🤣
- My nerdy interests 🎮
- Painting Warhammer minis 🖌️
- My writing journey 📖
- Astronomy 🔭
- My cat, Elsie 🐈

On top of that, I always strive to be positive and uplifting. But be warned, there’s occasional chaos too!
Am finished.
Is good book, question?
Yes yes yes!
I’ve been curious about it for a while, so I decided in this for my next read!

So, my parents raised me to ‘be productive’—to do or achieve things every day (particularly career-wise).

Problem is, today I literally can’t do anything. All there is to do is wait on email responses.

Result? I feel guilty. And it sucks.

If I ever have kids, I’m going to teach them differently.

Philosophers: I wonder what he thinks of as he stares outside? Does he yearn to roam the outdoors like his ancestors? Does he perhaps find some kinship in the flower? There must be a great many thoughts in his mind.

Not sure what is going on with the weather today!

It was really sunny when I first got up. After I had showered and gotten dressed however, it was pouring down!

Did get sunny again this afternoon. I was gonna go out for a walk now I’ve done all my jobs, but there’s a big dark cloud rolling over…

It’s dark and rainy outside, so I’m gonna spend this morning snuggled up warm reading a good book. 😊

So…anyone got good career advice for an autistic, ADHD trans woman with a background in astronomy data science and about 10 years programming experience?
February 14, 2026 at 10:54 PM
So with the academic and data science jobs I apply for, there’s always an equal opportunities section where you can disclose being trans (and also neurodiverse, etc).

At first I was truthful with it. Got barely any responses.

But when stopped disclosing being trans? Loads of interviews.
there is an employment crisis among trans women and there always has been, but good luck getting people to see it
Still living this life after almost 8 months. A professional I know who works almost exclusively with trans people said almost all of them are unemployed.

Happy Valentine's Day to all the trans and non-binary folk and also all the cats.
February 14, 2026 at 10:21 AM
Okay, to do today:
• Clean the cat’s litter tray (and bathroom floor).
• Take out trash.
• Go out for a walk.
• Put on washing.
• Make a nice lunch (and eat it).
• Hang up washing to dry.
• Relax!

Right, let’s do this!

Shrek.

First movie I saw in a cinema, in fact!
Have asked this before and always like the responses. What are your biggest “I saw that in the first run cinema” flexes? Couple of mine:

Transformers: The Movie (1986)
Batman: Mask of the Phantasm (1993)
Office Space (1999)
