Good example of ‘fuck this confusing shit’: the Sheilak in TNG season 3 episode 2.

Not only do they speak almost entirely monotone, but they are incredibly precise and direct in communication. It’s not that metaphors or emotion are meaningless to them, they just don’t respect anyone who uses them.
