A reminder that if the government can send migrants to a prison camp without any due process, it can send U.S. citizens there, too. I know because this happened to me and my family in 1942.

We like to stereotype them as absurd, but the fact that French people give their government a healthy little full-scale riot reminder of the French Revolution every time they get pissed off is VERY effective.
This shit doesn’t happen in France and I’ll tell you why: the rich went too far once and they cut all their heads off and now, when those in power fuck workers over, the French stop working. Don’t forget your real power Americans. They don’t let you have unions for a reason.

The measles outbreak in Texas is reminding me of the public letter Roald Dahl wrote about losing his daughter to measles in 1962, just before the vaccine was publicly available.

Honestly, it’d be worth it just for the health care, LEGOS, and those tins of butter cookies.
Nearly 200,000 Danes are supporting a comedic petition to buy California from the U.S., in what appeared to be a jab at President Donald Trump’s repeated threats to seize Greenland, an autonomous territory of Denmark.

I’m in Japan right now so I’m obliged to remind the world — we don’t want AI. We want a robust rail system. We want trains. Metros. High speed. Locals. Cute trains. Efficient trains. Trains.

Gen ai is poisoning our power grid, stealing intellectual property, using precious water, and ruining the internet with unreliable information and garbage imagery. Don't use it, and don't normalize it, even for laughs.

Not immigrants. Not minorities. Not people who follow a different religion.

Billionnaires. Noone needs a billion to live. Billionnaires could easily give you the money you lack and not notice the loss. They do not. They never will.

The state of media for Americans is so completely broken
I want to watch TV coverage of the live fall of the Syrian regime.

CNN is airing a Giuliani documentary, Fox News has a comedian joking about Canada, MSNBC a documentary about migrants

So I turned on BBC,which is breathlessly switching between Syria, South Korea demonstrations, and Ghana election

So a long long time, when I was very young, I got married to a guy after the second time I failed out of college, and we got along fine and didn’t have too many problems when he saw me as a dropout who was supporting him by working full time while he finished a college degree.
One of the things that was common listening to (almost entirely women) give acceptance speeches for winning awards for writing romance novels was how many of them praised their husbands for doing basic household chores.
Once you realize that a lot of men only value their wives in terms of what they do for them or for their children/families, you can't unsee how almost all of the praise from men to their wives has nothing to do with them personally and everything to do with the quality of service.

'Disrupt' is really the optimal word for what big tech is doing. It's not 'improve' or 'revolutionize' or 'positively contribute in any way.' It's 'disrupt' because all they do is f*ck up industries in ways like this: flooding a saturated market with trash that wastes time, energy, and money.
Why? Who is this meant to be good for? Nobody wants your shit AI books, never mind 8,000 in a year. Just a terrible idea and a horrible road the publishing industry is heading down.
