Lully et Brunet. Bi chaos in #Versailles 🤣

Lully left this world after piercing his foot with his metal cane while beating the tempo for one of his composition. I think he was stressed under King Louis XIV’s demands 🥲

1. Trump's Anti-Trans HHS Report authors have been unmasked, and as someone said, "Now we know why they were previously kept anonymous."

It's a who's who of hate groups and billionaire-funded anti-trans activists.

We detail the names in our latest report.

Trump's Anti-Trans Report Authors Revealed: Hate Groups and Billionaire-Funded Anti-Trans Activists
The majority of the “expert” comments cited in the “peer review” seem to be just as ignorant as the authors about the reality of trans people’s care.

1. Texas A&M has voted that Professors must seek out official permission to talk about trans people, sexuality, or race.

One of the professors said that the new policy would make routine lessons on things like the Holocaust impossible.

Texas A&M Votes That Professors Must Have Permission To Discuss Trans People, Sexuality or Race
The Texas Board of Regents said it wasn’t restricting “teaching,” but professors—and a university press release—says otherwise.

authors you have the chance to do the funniest thing right now
AI advocates have warned that if every author in the class action filed a claim, it would "financially ruin" the entire industry.
Authors celebrate “historic” settlement coming soon in Anthropic class action
Advocates fear such settlements will “financially ruin” the AI industry.

One of the only posts of mine that ever took off was on this, The salvation army (even if it may help people in a community) at its core is inherently homophobic/transphobic & is actively supporting ice and other horrid groups

do not give money to them, support local food kitchens with direct funds
I know it's a tad early but I know those bitches with the buckets will be out soon. Don't gove them a penny. The volunteers may not know but the salvation army is no ally and actively combative and harmful to many queer minorities especially during the holiday season

The same rich idiots that told me downloading a song on Napster was like stealing a car are trying to tell me that absorbing every movie ever made into *THE ROBOT* is fair use, actually, and a legion of dickriders coming to defend them because it's the future. Like fuck off.
This is the core of it. People think they're mad at the AI boogeyman but really they're mad about copyright law.

One would think that if you had a new & poorly-understood tool, about which nobody was prepared to offer any reliability or performance guarantees, you might try using it for low-stakes things for a good few years & take notes on how that was going before using it for obviously life-or-death stuff.
a few months ago I said "having generative AI handle absolutely anything with regards to healthcare is a nightmare and should be banned" and a bunch of people made fun of me and called me stupid. anyways,

Academic literature on BL, Yaoi & Fujoshi have been available in English since the 2000s with more published & translated each year but you'll STILL see white people unironically wailing "those uncultured savages LOVE homophobia & rape & only recently discovered good LGBTQ rep from us westerners😔"🧵

As many of you know, a handful of Dem Sens have voted on a CR that keeps the government funded until Jan 30, which would end the shutdown. For those watching for anti-trans provisions, there are none in the CR.

Senate Vets-MilCon, Leg, Ag minibus bills for FY26 have no riders.
Dems have spent the past two months saying they're fighting to address the crisis of spiking healthcare costs and now they're caving for a deal that does nothing to address healthcare costs ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Can we start saying "a person's reality shapes how fiction affects them"? Everyone responds to the same media differently and it is not a universal experience. MANY things influence how a person reacts to & interprets media such as how they're raised, mental health, education, religion, & culture.🧵

The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.

The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.

People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.

And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

I like how ancient Asian people believed those who harmed animals fell into hell where a mighty giant chicken slashes them. It seems the oldest appearance of the chicken hell was in Buddhist scripture from BC India (This image of the chicken hell is from a Japanese scroll in the 12th century)

Suddenly when puberty blockers are given to cis kids, the Daily Mail (the same newspaper which backed Hitler btw) finally admits that "their effects are not permanent, and once a child lets their blocking treatment lapse, puberty will just continue as normal."

Which is true for trans kids too.
Because it’s cis kids.
The NHS will quite casually give cis kids whatever treatment they need, even PBs👇
No trials. No concerns about side effects. No moral panic.

Ohio’s Redistricting Commission gerrymandered our state, again. With Republican politicians holding the cards, they carved up communities to find the voters they need to hold on to power. This is not how democracy works.

I have a bad cold so sorry if this is blunt/not clear:

If you are going to mention the HHS Report, you have to contextualize it properly for the reader: that it was anonymous, not peer reviewed (not normal practice), widely criticized, etc. Readers don't know the quality of research unless you say!
