ヴァンパイアはワンミスで即死するような致命的弱点を複数搭載しがちなので、数百年レベルで生存している方々は本当に要領が良くて慎重なんだろうな……と思う。

逆に耽美系ヴァンパイアの系譜が気になってきた。ブラム・ストーカーのドラキュラよりも先に発行された『カーミラ』（1872）は明らかに高貴な耽美系だけど、1970年代にアン・ライスがThe Vampire Chroniclesを始めるまでの100年間、どのように耽美系ヴァンパイアは発展してきたんだろう。

逆に耽美系ヴァンパイアの系譜が気になってきた。ブラム・ストーカーのドラキュラよりも先に発行された『カーミラ』（1872）は明らかに高貴な耽美系だけど、1970年代にアン・ライスがThe Vampire Chroniclesを始めるまでの100年間、どのように耽美系ヴァンパイアは発展してきたんだろう。
アビゲイルもブラム・ストーカーの短編小説を映画化した『女ドラキュラ』（Dracula’s Daughter/1936）のリブート企画から始まったんですね。耽美系ヴァンパイアではなくバケモン系ヴァンパイアに全振りしていると、ブラム・ストーカーの本流にある由緒正しい吸血鬼だなと思う。

As a classic literature fan, I appreciate film adaptations that are faithful to the original story. But I prefer something more, something special, made with the creator’s own view and passion.

I watched many film adaptations of Dracula this winter. atm Coppola’s one is the best for me bc it captures the original storyline very well, and has unique relationships based on his own view and passion (maybe you can call it headcanon) without wrecking the story arc. Quite an incredible feat.

iirc The Pope’s Exorcist (2023) also had a scene like that, where a cursed person eats a cardinal bird alive. In Hereditary (2018), a pigeon had their head cut off for a ritual.

古典文学愛好家としては『忠実な映像化』はもちろんご褒美なのですが、折角なのでデル・トロ版『フランケンシュタイン』のように全力で救済するアナザーエンドを用意したり、コッポラ版『ドラキュラ』のように原作に沿った整合性を取りながら制作者の激推しカップリングを捩じ込んで昇華する離れ業を見せてほしい。と思うワガママハート。要は作家性と時代性を見たいのかもしれない。

⛰️古代中国の地理書『山海経』に登場する怪鳥たち30羽を、原典の文章を頼りに描きました！ 次から次へと首や足の数が多い鳥が飛び出す。おもしろすぎる生態系。

よく考えてみると、ハトが大変な目に遭う映画は数多く挙げられるのですが（『ヘレディタリー』……フランス産アニメの『失くした体』、『老婦人とハト』……）、スズメが大変な目に遭う映画はひとつも思い浮かばない。
『ヴァチカンのエクソシスト』ではショウジョウコウカンチョウが大変な目に遭っていましたね。
