This is a thread of major media outlets falsely anthropomorphising the "Grok" chatbot program and in doing so, actively and directly removing responsibility and accountability from individual people working at X who created a child pornography generator (Elon Musk, Nikita Bier etc)

journalism means finding facts and sharing them to inform the public.

finding facts often means consulting those with specialized knowledge on a topic, like academics and advocates.

if you are just sharing what a random guy thinks you are not informing the public with facts, hence not journalism
I truly cannot wait for these incredibly stupid people to find out what happens when you try to wave the flag harder than Fox News

This year felt like a decade. I wanted to highlight some of the immigration reporting I've done over the past 12 months:

In January, I wrote about the big money fueling the right's plot to end birthright citizenship.

Trans youth healthcare is based in decades of research and supported by every major medical organization in the US. Under RFK Jr, a handpicked panel produced a dodgy report claiming otherwise.

It's a clear example of Kennedy's war on science. So why aren't news organizations treating it that way?

There has been lots said about the evidence quality underpinning trans healthcare today, in both popular press and by politicians.

Here is a story where I parsed those details through reporting on a failed research partnership--and it's fallout.

Let’s make 2025 the year we officially embrace the pigeon, writes @jackiefmogensen.bsky.social.

This is a wildly unethical study that would be illegal to conduct in the United States. Have you heard of the Tuskegee experiments (crimes against humanity)? This sounds like that.
CDC awards $1.6 million for new hepatitis B vaccine study in Guinea-Bissau. Although the award recipients aren't named, the grant seems tailored to Danish researchers whose work is championed by anti-vaxxers but challenged by mainstream scientists.

“This bill... creates an incredibly dangerous precedent far beyond the specific care at issue, criminalizing care based on ideology and placing Washington politicians between families and their doctors." -Mike Zamore, ACLU
Today House Republicans voted 216-211 to pass MTG’s bill to criminalize gender-affirming care for minors nationwide, marking the first time a national ban on care for trans youth has reached — and passed — the House floor.
