Genuinely, as someone who plays several live service games I always have a checklist that's like
- Ask yourself if you're having fun
- Never have a "forever game", play or read or do other stuff alongside it
- Don't set paid subs to auto-renew
- Think about what you want, not what the game wants

It’s baby octopus season 🐙🦑

Saw this little guy last night with the Salish Sea School in Anacortes, WA as part of their free community dock walk I volunteer as an interpreter for.

We can tell it is a giant pacific octopus from the single line of chromatophores on each arm.

The biggest thing i've learned as an artist who sells prints and merch is don't make what people ask for. They won't buy it. Make what you, the artist, want to see printed on the support of ur choice.
I can't explain why but THAT'S what will sell. People who buy the most are the silent ones. 🫶
Remember, artists: when people say, “I’d buy a print of this,” they don’t mean it. That sentence itself is just a weird compliment that rarely converts to an actual print sale. It’s like if someone ate a very good hot dog and then said, “I could eat 10,000 of these right now.”

“No look over here. Am normal clam. Or scallop. Whatever.”
I know hiding in shells is their whole thing, but Coconut Octopuses (Amphioctopus marginatus) pretending to be bivalves never gets old.

A #Taleof2Canyons & an octopus! 186m, Patagonian red octopus, or Enteroctopus megalocyathus, hovering over a patch of sediment, lighter in color than the surrounding area, the cephalopod opened up like an umbrella to feed, likely on a crustacean. Read more: www.instagram.com/reel/DQnH14c...

The PS2 truly is the best console ever because it is constantly becoming more powerful. Each time we say something "looks like a PS2 game" we're talking about a game of a higher fidelity than the last. What the PS2 is capable of in 2025 is so far beyond what it was capable of in 2003. That's amazing

the digital artist woe was really bad with my old laptop which had an absolute horrid color profile. Like, horrid to the point that i would make something a cream or brownish color, and then look on any other screen and it'd be like BRIGHT YELLOW.

Seriously, if the art is strong, some color variation simply doesn't matter that much. The average person will never notice anyway and only you the artist know it didn't match exactly what you intended.
Listen to me. Listen. If you're making images that will only be displayed on screens, YOU HAVE TO LET GO. You can calibrate your screens perfectly, but then 25k people will see it on their shitty $50 monitors or cracked phone and its out of your hands. Don't think of it. Achieve enlightenment.

"Oh but I cant afford to pay an artist blah blah bla-"

Hun. Think about all the legendary album covers that have just been text on a plain bg, or just a photo. I understand the impact that a beautifully illustrated album cover can have, but it doesn't NEED to be that.

Respect artists. FUCK AI.
When it comes to music, “If the cover art’s AI, I’m passin’ it by!™”

The big-eye jellyhead (Inopinoteuthis magna) is thought to be largest species of cirrate octopus, with one specimen having a total length of 1.7 m, and mantle length of 33 cm.

I personally love it when they do their "person wearing a hoop skirt impression"
