Every time I go out to check my science themed little free library and see that everything has been taken I suddenly go Mrs. Potts mode where I start making little noises and running around the house to find more things to refill the library with.

Next Friday, Feb 20th, I'm gonna be taking the helm of our monthly Drink and Draw Series!

I'll put up 8-10 prompts, attendees vote on which they want to draw, and the winning prompts will get psychotically illustrated by about 30 people. It's a silly, cheap, fun Friday.

Come!

This is, once again, like Captain Planet villain comic book stupidly one-dimensionally evil.

My friends are having a muppets party on Saturday and i need to, somehow, dress myself like pepe the king prawn. Idk how to do that other than sticking red pipe cleaners in my hair. Maybe that's enough.

Highlights from judging the elementary school science fair.

An investigation of which household objects conduct electricity.

Can cheese conduct electricity? Apparently so.

Me: You and cheese both conduct electricity. What do you two have in common?
Student: We are both thick
Me: Ah yes of course

I wrote 1700 words today which isn't enough ... given my deadline and how many days there are but um. Ya know. I guess I'll just do better tomorrow? lol? It'll be fine.

this is partly how we can achieve substantial rewilding, to support sustainable ecosystems and reduce climate change

largely the same with land used to grow food, which has been hijacked to grow subsidies and move up the value chain with excessive, inhumane meat production
Put another way, we could get rid of corn ethanol, switch 30% of the freed-up farmland to solar to generate 100% of US electricity, and use the other 70% of the freed-up land for whatever we want.

My favorite part of this article, in addition to the interesting new research on beneficial microbes (of course! of course!), is the picture that makes the gut microvilli look like hot dogs at a rave.

'Hidden' group of gut bacteria may be essential to good health
Scientists have pinpointed a group of bacteria that consistently appear in high numbers in healthy people, suggesting that these could one day be targeted through diet or probiotics

I have three friends with moms named Barbara. Of those moms, 1 always likes my intstagram story, and 1 sometimes does. The third doesn't follow me on instagram yet. One day I will have a hat trick of Barbs. I just have to believe in myself like Bad Bunny told me to.

I had the dark thought “yikes what public good would you turn a concentration camp into” then I had the even darker thought “oh yeah we go play pickleball at the old concentration camp on Thursdays”
The next administration must close these camps, ideally before they begin to operate, and turn the buildings into something useful for the public good. Any lesser commitment is a non-starter
In the last month ICE has bought warehouses in:

- Hagerstown, MD: $102 million
- Surprise, AZ: $70 million
- Hamburg, PA: $87 million
- Tremont, PA: $120 million
- San Antonio, TX: $82 million
- El Paso, TX: $123 million
- Social Circle, GA: price unknown

This is unprecedented.

Next time somebody tries to get me to justify the existence of the humanities, I’ll just point out how for the past two Super Bowls we’ve all jumped online and engaged in collective semiotics and hermeneutics of the half-time show as text.

Benito is a threat b/c he makes art so alluring and enjoyable you want to understand everything about it and then you end up learning about sugar and slavery and colonialism and the Taínos and Hawaii and then you probably have some thoughts of your own, and that's why art is powerful and dangerous
