For the fifth time this year, I am under contract at a professional rate. Tight timeline, but that's fine.
Still, after 2 years of almost no freelance work, it's a strong year for getting my name back out there.
This is all under NDA, so I think I'll assign it the codename: Project Wafflestorm.

NEW: The first two years of Massachusetts' millionaire tax has raised $3 billion more than expected.

And rather than driving the rich away, IPS researchers found that the number of millionaires has *increased.*

Tax the rich. Greg Ryan in @bloomberg.com:
Millionaire Tax That Inspired Mamdani Fuels $5.7 Billion Haul in Massachusetts
A millionaire levy in Massachusetts that New York City mayoral frontrunner Zohran Mamdani holds up as a model for taxing the rich has generated $3 billion more in revenue than expected without forcing...

Luella is a 1934 Chrysler Airflow Imperial possessed by the vengeful spirit of Luella Kreisky, a Austrian Worker's Front fighter tortured and killed and buried in the car in '34.
Luella's strongly socialist, violently antifa, and her beloved driver Scott barely controls her rage.

Apparently, the popular and successful show "Poker Face" has been cancelled.

Bullshit.

In US fiction, I'm happier when characters discuss someone "filing a criminal complaint" rather than "pressing charges."
The time I was beaten the worst, police asked me if I wanted to "file a complaint."
They made it clear nothing would happen if I filed, but they were using the right terminology.

A gnomish truism about bigotry and hatred.

"In the blink of a lifetime." And elven idiom that is often taken to refer to how short-lived other races are, but is actually used to denote how important, and easily forgotten, every moment and experience is.

"Well, that's the final grain."
Drawn from the Merothian parable against trying to save labor by putting too much grain in your sack. The final grain is the one that will burst the grain sack, causing you to loose the whole load due to your laziness.

"You need ash to make steel."
Merothian reference to something dirty and unpleasant being beeded to make things of beauty and use. Elves of Te Essar see this as a plea for why Merothains serfs should be tolerated--their labor makes the glory of the empire possible.

All the time, I see people post "Good, Fast, Cheap. Pick two."
First, it's pick two AT MOST. You may only get one.
Or none.
Because, also? It's pick the two you want. The two you are aiming for.
No guarantee you'll get them.
This is a targeting solution, not a sure hit.
