Festive Special Part 1 - Season's Deletings
It's Harper's birthday, and the crew of the Big SISS have invented him an amazing present: a machine that can change the orbit speeds of planets in the Solar System! But will increasing Earth's orbit ...

My respect for international law doesn't stretch as far as describing how international law works or who should be bound by it
This is relevant to the Irish Government's response too.

You can't just say "respect for international law" and not say whether it's been broken or not by a party you won't even name.
Yes, I don’t think there’s a “love actually” moment here. But issuing a statement specifically pointing towards international law and then not commenting on whether you think this follows it is just woeful comms, and surely pretty weak on the substance too.

It's crazy the level of contempt I feel for this absolute nothing of a man who leads a country I don't leave it. He makes me queasy with contempt
Keir Starmer: "I constantly remind myself that 24/7 our defence, our security & our intelligent relationship with the US matters probably more than any other relationship we've got in the world and it would not be in our national interest to weaken that in any way"

Sounds like some of you have not been reading the assigned literature!

Seriously though, isn't it so telling that Micheál Martin's first guest when he tried to do a podcast was the author of this

Watched ep 5 of The Chair Company last night, the last few minutes had a run of jokes & hysterical reveal, all in a style I don't think I've come across before.

Tim Robinson's comedy is much more sustainable than I ever imagined. Just never struck me as something that could carry a full series

There's a real risk you'll forget what words are for by the time you get to the end of this statement.

The most cowardly nonsense imaginable
The statement from Ireland ⤵️

Evil maniac Trump at the fore today obviously, but his instant dismissing of anybody who puts themselves out there for him will always make me laugh. Imagine trusting him at this point!
Trump just said they aren’t talking to Machado cause she doesn’t have the support of the people lmao

Jupiter is sitting very pretty under an amazing moon tonight. What better evening to take your face out of the news and do some stargazing

Rare good use of "grow up"
Blows my mind that some of the same journalists who see Trump as a want-to-be dictator at home are earnestly discussing the "challenges" for this same man to "bring democracy" to a country it just illegal invaded. Please grow up.

People are going to try and lure you into debates about whether Maduro was a good guy or not and the thing is, it doesn’t matter for the purposes of discussing whether violent kidnappings and extrajudicial murders by the US government are ok. No, they aren’t! End of convo.
January 3, 2026 at 2:01 PM
Do the people who are keen to point out Maduro is a bad guy think Trump wouldn't do this to a good guy?
January 3, 2026 at 3:46 PM
Maybe it's best we just don't bother with the qualifiers, save ourselves the heartbreak of qualifying for a world cup that probably won't happen
Trump says "something is gonna have to be done" about Mexico and President Claudia Sheinbaum in response to a question about whether the Venezuelan strike was a "message" to her government.

Defending my decision to violently kidnap my neighbour by claiming it's a rapidly evolving situation. He was previously unkidnapped, and has now evolved, quite rapidly, to kidnapped
January 3, 2026 at 3:43 PM
Do you condemn this "rapidly evolving situation"?
January 3, 2026 at 3:42 PM
We're about to witness unprecedented levels of cowardice from our Government.
Senior Govt source says this is an 'evolving situation' and not to expect an official response until the situation becomes clear.

Whenever that may be, I guess.

The news is too stressful. I'm gonna ease the tension by getting stuck back into Stephen King's 'Desperation'. Just at the bit where they get attacked by loads of horrible spiders and scorpions and snakes. Much nicer than the news.

Throw "kidnapping heads of state" onto the pile, sure why not
In the last year we are being told by the people in charge that genocide and CSAM aren't that big a deal to them really. Unsustainable.
there are endless headlines about "grok apologizes" or "grok says it will be fixed" after it generated CSAM using pictures of minors and zero headlines about "grok being shut down" or "musk and xAI in big legal trouble" and I think something fundamental has broken here
January 3, 2026 at 9:45 AM
Holy shit
Donald Trump has said the United States has taken the President of Venezuela and flown him out of his country.
January 3, 2026 at 9:33 AM
I look forward to our senior politicians unequivocal condemnation of Trump's attacks on Venzuela

AI is the future and you all need to get on board with this specific version of the future or else your just a no good technophobe stick in the mud

I've got my conspiracy board out again, with loads of statements by the Healy Raes posted on it. When you put them back to back it honestly seems like they want the housing crisis to continue indefinitely. Not sure why, or how this makes sense.

Anyway, my next step is to check if they own any land.

Is this the complete goon of a man who used to have an insanely high bar for categorising anything Boris Johnson said as a lie?
January 2, 2026 at 3:36 PM
This is very bad, but it can also write emails if you're feeling a lil bit lazy, so who's to say whether it's a net positive or net negative
so x dot com’s ai generated CSAM and they admitted it may violate US law and … i haven’t seen in anyone in power say much at all or call to stop using the platform

Peggy Hill is an all time top 5 sitcom character for me. She has at least one line in each episode, delivered with such clueless overconfidence, that it couldn't come from any other character on TV
I really do think Peggy is one of the greatest animation, arguably TV in general, characters of all time; it still feels quietly revolutionary to have made her such an egotist and kind of a buffoon in an era where wife and mom characters were almost all bland and sensible

He's trying a bold new strategy of "doing things", I like it
Mayor Mamdani has nullified every executive order issued by Eric Adams after he struck his corrupt bargain with Trump to secure dismissal of the indictment against him.
