This is a hell of an item to drop on Christmas eve.
CW: SA, infanticide

According to this Epstein file Trump regularly paid to sexually assault a 13 year old on a yacht and watched as they disposed of the 13 year olds new born child off the side of the boat in lake Michigan.

Jesus Christ, this is the most self-important, overtly assholish email I’ve ever read.

Also, I love that ending line “Merry Christmas- and thank you, especially, to everyone who is working over this holiday.”

After that email, it reads as “get to work lazy bums, how dare you take time off.”
Bari Weiss just sent this Christmas Eve email to the CBS News staff about "building trust," which includes her tripling down on spiking the CECOT piece "to make sure it's comprehensive and fair."

One CBS staffer tells me: "She really has no idea how insulting she comes across."

WB: What do you have planned for Batman 2?

Tim Burton: We open on a newborn baby boy

WB: Aww

TB: No. The baby is ugly. He kills and eats a house cat while it's still alive. His parents try to kill him in his crib, but to Gotham's woe, they fail

WB: ...

TB: Also it's a Christmas movie

In case you need to hear it from someone who was raised Hindu: Usha is not a hostage, she is an accomplice. She is culpable. Fuck her and the fascists she colludes with. May she go down with all of them. As Zohran ably demonstrates, our communities do not aspire to whiteness & don’t seek to appease.
Vance's latest rant has set off another misguided round of "free Usha" rhetoric. This isn't just inaccurate--she's wholly a part of this fascist project--it's dangerous. We can no longer afford to imagine fascism as smaller than it is. Hindu fascism is vast, too. No religion is immune.

One big difference between the 1960s and now is that the state was doing stuff. It was building, developing, improving. Councils were building houses, track was being laid. There was a sense that stuff could be done. And now doing stuff is impossible and illegal, nothing is affordable.
what is the centrist obsession with insisting we're all richer than in the 60s lol. & how is this gonna save liberal democracy exactly

also whats the special brain compartment that enables them all to ignore the price of an house as a multiple of average incomes (whichever average you use) or
Americans in their 20s and 30s may not feel that they’re richer than their equivalents 60 years ago, but they’re objectively wrong.

It’s fascinating how important it is to some people not to say “I’m struggling, it’s hard” or “I need help”—objectively true—but to instead insist they have it worse.

Once when we wanted to show the ineffectual dithering of The Good Place Committee, we had one of them say, "There are rules, procedures. This is The Good Place -- we can't just *do stuff.*" We almost didn't include it, because we thought it was a little on the nose.
WELKER: Massie and Khanna say they are looking at options including impeachment and contempt for DOJ officials. Would you support those steps?

I make more money than either of my parents ever did and it all goes to rent, healthcare, and debt
It's unquestionable that young people today are richer than their 1960s counterparts, but the big difference in precarity. A good job requires living in a metro area with a housing shortage. A child requires an even more expensive home in a functional school district. A college degree requires debt.
These Young Adults Make Good Money. But Life, They Say, Is Unaffordable.

We said for years: don't normalise having these "debates" about trans people and immigrants. Everyone thought they knew better. And now it's absolutely normal to say trans people are deviants and immigrants are subhuman, and we're having debates about whether women can vote.
None of this is “good faith political debate,” and it’s not a coincidence that all these outlets are suddenly interested in the same “discussion” at the same time.

Treating women’s humanity like a thought exercise makes it that much easier to legislate away

It's good to be friends with a person. Life is good when you have friends.
The cultural obsession with the friend zone was such a warning flag for the hell we are in, in hindsight

What do you mean you made up a negative term for when a woman goes "hey I like you a lot and want to keep you in my life, I just have no interest in having sex"
I remember hearing guys in college bitching about 'the friend zone' and im just sitting here, being turned down at that time by every person I had asked out going ...WAIT WHATS WRONG WITH THAT?! WHY ARE WE ANGRY.

anyway, patriarchy makes men sabotage their own happiness and creates loneliness

If you're not trans, I don't think I can fully explain how important this is.

It's so powerful that one of the most circulated science media publications in the world has come out and said "trans children are real and providing transition care improves their lives." That's groundbreaking.
The name "Popular Science" doesn't mean we shift our coverage depending on public opinion. It means we cover relevant subjects that are rigorously researched, reliable, and grounded in reality.

And trans lives are grounded in reality.

We see y'all. No matter what.

Ninety-four percent of participants in a new study stood firm in their trans identity after five years, and "detransitioning" is rare.

I like some of the movies that Lee’s produced, but he (and everyone else in Hollywood!!!!!) should know that Bill Watterson will never give up the rights to Calvin and Hobbes. No amount of letter writing or stalking is going to change that.

I always loved storytelling, especially watching movies. So I decided that I was gonna make them!

…cut to seven years later, when I realized that I loved writing, but hated cameras.
With all this awful news going on i wanna ask this question once again to fellow artists and general creatives. What got YOU into art? what sparked that motivation to start writing? what made you wanna pick up a camera and start taking pics? Like share with us your reasons.

today, congress votes on 2 bills —HR498 & HR3492—one bans medicaid funds for providers of trans youth care; the other criminalizes that care, imposing penalties including jail.

either one passing destroys lives. we need you to call & tell your rep to vote no.
