As someone that came out of gun show culture of the 1990s with all its "jackboot government thugs" conspiracy theories, and didn't come to my senses until after the Tea Party and Obama-era militia movement, this cannot be understated. Everything we worried about for 40 years is happening...
Conspiracy theorists have never been more validated than in the last few months, but none of them are around to celebrate it because they all just became Trump partisans.

Just heard re: some ICE agents who raided a Chicago taqueria, then went back to the same taqueria for lunch the following week and got confused when the owner kicked them out, and I realized "jesus these doofuses really do believe we're all living in a video game where the NPCs have no memory"

In the meantime, he got the professional networking opportunity, and I didn’t. And Lawrence Krauss gets to write nasty things about me in the Wall Street Journal, and the New York Times gets to write about me like I’m a crazy queer bitch who hates men.

everyone who wants Democrats to focus on throwing immigrants and trans people under the bus needs to explain why this is not going to be the end result

In 1999, a woman named Jessica Gonzales sought and obtained an order of protection against her physically abusive husband ("AH"), who had repeatedly threatened to kill her and their three children. The order included language specifically limiting when and where AH was allowed to see the children.

spoke with the executive director of my local food bank today and got this really incredible line: "if you donate 1 can of green beans, we can give away 1 can of green beans. but if you donate a dollar, we can give away 6 cans of green beans"

Just remember as you see all these politicians rushing to say "Bernie was right, we should be like Bernie" that a few weeks ago, Bernie was praising Trump on immigration. Oh, and Bernie voted to confirm Marco Rubio.

NONE of the Senate Democrats are good enough. NONE. OF. THEM.

Hey, a lot of people are talking about changing affiliation from Democratic to Independent.

Let me tell you why you shouldn’t do that in Colorado.

One of the main ways to get a primary challenge candidate on a ballot is to caucus for your party. You need to be registered as a Dem to caucus.

I know nothing is official yet, but I feel like I could throw up.
Hi, this is me. 70% of my reliable teaching income next year will be eaten up by my health insurance, which I need because I'm chronically ill.
I hope those 8 dems who voted yes never have a moment's peace.
Kara is a New Jersey resident who is seeing her healthcare costs skyrocket without the help of ACA premium tax credits.

Stories like Kara's are why we need to find a solution that will give families the healthcare relief they need and end this shutdown.

My family has been without half our income for 40 days. It has been.. very hard.

We are willing to feel that pain so people can have health care next year, or to undo these illegal recissions.

We are not willing to have been put through this for NOTHING.

Maybe important to note it was the disruption in air travel that Democrats couldn't stand and not, you know, 40+ million people not knowing where their next meal was coming from.

"Hyde language" would be a ban on anything related to abortion. So, any Senate Democrat that caves is agreeing to vote to implement a nationwide abortion ban in exchange for healthcare subsidies.
Democrats are likely to get a vote on an extension later. But they've already gotten similar votes. Republicans already vowing to block an extension without major changes to the ACA, like adding Hyde language.

There is no national emergency of children suffering the consequences of being asked to use affirmed pronouns, but the reverse absolutely is happening. Parents of trans kids are having to home school their kids because lawsuits like this one have obliterated school systems ability to protect them.

What this order makes clear is that plaintiffs can collect a mountain of animus, the district court can write extensively about the record, and the Supreme Court will just go “nuh uh.”
BREAKING: The Supreme Court will allow the Trump administration to enforce its anti-trans and anti-nonbinary passport policy during litigation.

The unsigned, four-paragraph order effectively reverses two lower-court decisions. The Democratic appointees dissent.

One pretty insidious aspect of transmisogyny is the lack of understanding that trans girls in early transition are under the mental strain of having grown up in a transmisogynist world and having to come to terms with BEING those trans women they've heard all that shit about.
