i really think there is legit political space for running on "we are going to dismantle ICE"
How it started vs. How it’s going NOW 👀

I genuinely do not believe left vs. center is a useful heuristic and especially not right now because what matters is fight vs. don't fight and all of the substack guys who like to talk about WAR as a metric for evaluating politicians are on team "don't fight if our data says it's not 95/5"
On the other hand, WAR for a +13 Dem seat is supposed to be used to not run up the score but to shave the margin and elect someone more to the left, not the center!

But this just keeps going to show those guys don't understand what politics actually is and why it exists.

I know people are rightly going to be worried about child health, their own health. But we also can't afford this. Like, John Hopkins did an estimate (next link) and every measles case during outbreaks cost on average $43,000 to treat. That kid who got tetanus cost $1 million dollars to treat /1

“it’s reasonable to ask questions about trans girls in sports” was always intended to mainstream transphobia.

It’s absurd that people fell for it. Democrats are constantly letting oppressors set the terms of debate instead of just saying “no, fuck you.”

The State of Israel, as it exists now, is unquestionably an apartheid state, and if you believe in liberal precepts of human rights and dignity and *don't* think it should be subject to international sanctions and isolation, I think it's incumbent upon you to justify that special treatment.
What Should Israel Do?
Like many Americans, I’ve spent much of the last six months arguing about Israel and Palestine online. In doing so, I’ve found myself perennially frustrated by how abstract the discussi…

Nobody involved in US or Israeli politics even questions the idea that Israel has a right to maintain direct military rule over 33% of its population indefinitely, and that is why there is simply no way to even begin a constructive dialogue on this.
In 34 paragraphs total, Dan Shapiro devotes exactly one (1) of them to what Israel's responsibilities are in order to keep Democrats from becoming more pro-Palestine. Here's his suggestions:

shake up the senate caucus or we lose the republic
LOL - Senate (and House) Republicans are ending their "probe" into Hegseth's boat strikes after they got Schumer, Durbin and majority of the Senate Democratic Caucus to vote for a $900 billon defense authorization bill for Trump/Hegseth.

the failure to actually jail people for this is what made Trump's return in 2024 possible
thinking about how few people know about the false electors scheme is genuinely depressing

thinking about how nobody in the democratic party has signaled a willingness to reopen that question is also depressing

i'm just really depressed, i think
I also developed proof beyond a reasonable doubt of this, using the investigative methods of "reading the words that the president regularly spoke and wrote in public forums."

Again, nobody really denies that Israel is an apartheid state anymore, the only question is whether or not you think that's good.
Try wrapping your mind around this map released earlier this year by the United Nations Office of Coordination for Humanitarian Affairs, describing and delineating restrictions of roads and land access for Palestinians in the oPT, sans Gaza.

This is strictly a personal observation from living in LA, but RFK scares me so much because otherwise orthodox liberals with a woo food and chemicals streak are being converted into lunatic conservatives.
SCOOP: Academy Award-nominee Liam Neeson narrated a recent anti-vaccine documentary that glorifies RFK Jr.’s rise to power.

In the film, Neeson—a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador—calls the COVID-19 vaccines “dangerous experiments.”

Transition is a matter of free will and freedom. Trans people are going to do it anyway and you cannot stop them.

We are full human beings with the right to decide our lives for ourselves and no one has a right to stand in the way of that.
one of the main reasons trans healthcare moved away from strict gatekeeping and toward informed consent & GAC is that trans ppl who were denied the means to transition would simply seek it out elsewhere
What did you think would happen when you restricted access to care?

cool that the official position of the administration appears to be that black people don’t really count as americans
"The Donald Trump administration has changed which holidays qualify for free entrance to national parks, removing two holidays celebrating Black people and adding the president’s birthday."
National parks change prioritizes Trump birthday over days honoring Black people
Free entrance days at national parks no longer include MLK Day and Juneteenth.

No, Progressives Don’t Want “Purity.” They Just Want Some Courage.
When left-leaning Democrats complain about corporate influence, it’s not a “purity test.” It’s a demand for a better politics.
