Never have I regretted a decision to paint a kit more in my life. But the results are WAY worth it.

Extremely happy with the turn out on this one.

Good thread about junk science. In 2018 I was part of a team that exonerated a man in CA who had been convicted based on false microscopic hair comparison analysis. Spent 15 years incarcerated because of junk science
Reminder that years ago it was found out that the FBI straight up made up a whole bunch of fake forensic sciences, plural. People have gone to jail and been executed due to literally pseudoscience.

Hair forensics, for instance, is totally nonsense.

They admitted it.

UPDATE on Nebula Awards and LLMs:

SFWA just announced: "SFWA does not support the use of LLM generative models in the production of creative work. … Works that are written, either wholly or partially, by generative large language model (LLM) tools are not eligible [in the Nebulas]."

These ridiculous mega-projects like "datacenters in space" (doomed by thermodynamics) make a LOT more sense when you realize they're massive Ponzi schemes designed to transfer wealth from pension funds to VC's through "fee stacking."

It's the old Assets Under Management con. It should be illegal.

I do agree that it was a stupid fucking name for the subculture though, it was 100% named in reaction to cyberpunk as a technological aesthetic and not for its political perspective. It's very telling that in steampunk people tend to dress up as the wealthy, upper-class industrialists and scientists

I sort of wish y'all took this more seriously, because this attitude is a reinforcement of heterosexuality as a hierarchy. It's an acknowledgement and understanding that it's not enough to "be with" a woman, or even to father children.

They define manhood as exploitation, abuse, and dominance.
"Everything straight is actually gay" is my favourite kind of ragebait posts by these morons.
