i have a learning disability in math (my test scores were always very high for verbal, "has this person been kicked in the head" for math) that i got no help for at all until i did philosophy of math in college, which i loved

the exeperience has made me extremely fighty with quants & im not sorry
Those who weren’t resigned to the Math Idiot Garbage Bin as kids may not grasp how much “if you’re bad at math, you’ll die in a ditch and all will be better off for it” sentiment was floating around in the 90s and 2000s, but it sure felt real to me.

(my parents are great! It didn’t come from them!)

next time someone tells me academic writing is too dense and difficult to understand im going to wave Meta's HR lead saying "impact-evidence starter" around in the air and screetch like an angry crow
Meta now forcing all employees to use AI tools and tying it to employee performance, according to @theinformation.com.

HR said "this is not an activity tracker—it’s an impact-evidence starter"

That's a fun way to rebrand workplace surveillance.

I regret to inform you that “1979” by Smashing Pumpkins was released in 1996, which is now 30 years ago. Meaning a similar song released in 2026 would be called “2009”
