When half the internet doesn't work because of a failure of a single vendor, that vendor is a utility, in the same way that power, water, and, back in the day, the phone companies, are/were utilities.

For anyone who is interested, the Manchu Wok in Chicago O’Hare is straight-up garbage tier airport food. I gave it another shot today and I instantly regretted it.

I could legit play Super Metroid, Final Fantasy IV-VI, Link to the Past, and Super Mario World until I die and I’d die happy
"If you hate GenAI you're going to have to stop playing new games when they all start using it"

My brother in Christ, my backlog is literally thousands of games long. I have lifetimes worth of earlier titles to play, & I will gladly do that instead of boiling the oceans for a new CoD or whatever

There is a certain meditativeness to air travel I am able to find, between terminals and on flights.

I know my travel will be extremely reduced next year compared to the last two, and while I will be happy to be home more of the time, there is a part of me that will miss it.

I am not shocked, but still:

DAYUM.
"In 2025, 40% of women aged 15 to 44 say they would move abroad permanently if they had the opportunity. The current figure is four times higher than the 10% who shared this desire in 2014, when it was generally in line with other age and gender groups."
Record Numbers of Younger Women Want to Leave the U.S.
The percentage of younger women in the U.S. who express a desire to migrate permanently has surged in the past decade.

The ATLA Magic: The Gathering set is crazy good. Just a very well-constructed and flavorful set to play with. Prerelease was a blast.

Might even be the best set released this year.

We are legitimately going through a renaissance of medical discoveries and technology right now, but you’d never know it if you paid attention to most public rhetoric on health.

Lol yeah man all that panic over "a Big Mac will cost $15!" if we raise the minimum wage. Well we didn't raise the minimum wage but a Big Mac is $15 now.

tetsuya mizuguchi truly, earnestly believes, with his whole heart and whole mind, that generic vocal trance from 2003 has the power to awaken humanity's shared consciousness and guide us to universal peace. The strength of his conviction is so powerful that it might actually cause this to be true

I will say this for the Valve announcement: it is refreshing to see a product launch that is just "here's a product that you might want. here's what it is. here's what it does" with absolutely no mention of AI, mysterious future features that might arrive OTA, or some extractive business model.
