This is something that shouldn't have ever been, but maybe we could fix it going forward. We REALLY need to up those incredibly harmful limits and get rid of the marriage penalty that literally makes it so disabled people can't get married or they'll die.
Call your house rep and tell them to support HB 2540 which will increase the amount disabled people can save from $2k to $10k and remove the marriage penalty where you lose your only source of income if you get married regardless of how little they make. Switchboard: (202) 224-3121

Of all the things we are doing in MN, this one is just beyond. Imagine being released from hell alone in the cold. And a total stranger has waited all night with a blanket just to be ready to hug you and carry you home. Every job we do is crucial, but this one is what restores humanity and dignity.
